RockyRaccoon Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 So NME just posted this article of albums, chosen by users, that they consider to be perfect from start to finish. What do you all think of the list? I agree with some of it, though a lot of the albums I'm a bit skeptical on (especially the inclusion of a Nickelback album). Also, what albums do you guys think are perfect from start to finish? Albums that don't have a single weak track on them.
Shawna Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 The two that immediately came to my mind were "Rumours" ~ Fleetwood Mac, which is already on the list, and "Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy" ~ Refreshments, which, on a sidenote, even the tracks which I've heard that were left off of that album are incredible.
_Laurie_ Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Rumours was the first one I thought of too...
edna Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Sticky Fingers and Rubber Soul. Probably Atom Heart Mother.
Zabadak Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Can't get it to load at work but the ones which sprang immediately to my brain were: Pink Floyd - Dark Side... Monochrome Set - Strange Boutique Sweet - Sweet Fanny Adams Beatles - Please Please Me Kristin Hersh - Strange Angels Ramones - It's Alive dEUS - The Ideal Crash...
edna Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I'm Your Man - Cohen Parallel Lines - Blondie
Rayzor Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Rumors - Fleetwood Mac Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses Road Apples - The Tragically Hip Meanwhile Back In Paris... - Streetheart Dreamboat Annie - Heart Just a few that popped into my head... I was able to see the first dozen albums listed then the page froze, so if any of these are on the list then that's good. From what I saw it wasn't a great list...
_Laurie_ Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Harvest ~ Mr. Neil Young .... I could listen to just about any album by Neil from start to finish... :guitar:
Zabadak Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 How could I forget Love's Forever Changes
Carl Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Paul Simon - Graceland Talking Heads - Fear of Music Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Brad_M Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 2 of the best albums from start to finish.
piston broke Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 A couple of Bowie ones sprang immediately to mind: Hunky Dory and Station To Station. Never much cared for Ziggy.
edna Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Talking Heads - Fear of Music Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water Of course!! And I'd add "Stop Making Sense" - T.Heads. and "The Sounds of Silence" - S&G
bluesboy Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) Bob Marley & The Wailers - Uprising (1980) David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name (1971)
Zabadak Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 A couple of Bowie ones sprang immediately to mind: Hunky Dory and Station To Station. Never much cared for Ziggy. Add TMWSTW :sing1:
bluesboy Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Frank Sinatra had a few themed albums during his decade long stay at Capitol Records in the '50s and early '60s... Songs For Young Lovers (1954) In The Wee Small Hours (1955) Songs For Swingin' Lovers (1956) Come Fly With Me (1958) Frank Sinatra Sings for Only The Lonely (1958) Come Dance With Me (1959) Nice 'n' Easy (1960) Come Swing With Me (1961) Just magnificent interpretations of the American popular song as it was written, particularly in the 1920s, '30s, and '40s.
bluesboy Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 1 Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy Grateful Dead - American Beauty Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman Van Morrison - Moondance The Doors - The Doors Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Damn the Torpedoes Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experience The Who - Who's Next Frank Zappa - Over-Nite Sensation Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited Ray Charles - Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Stevie Wonder - Innervisions John Mayall - The Turning Point The Band - The Band (1969) Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country (1969)
Lucky Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Live Bullet - Bob Seger
TheLizard Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen My first thought. Also The Doors' debut. As for modern bands, I think the case can be made that Arcade Fire has done this three times in a row.
Carl Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Thick as a Brick, by Jethro Tull. I thought about this - easier to be perfect when it's just one song.
