Thanks to everyone who participated and to Pinkstones for providing this list. These 10 songs will be added to the archive and retired. Note: There was a tie at #10 between Florence + the Machine and Coldplay. Pink was allowed to choose which song makes it in, and went with Florence because she doesn't already have a song in. pinkstones
Of the entire list, I'm most excited to see the Beastie Boys get in. I think they're underappreciated not just here, but in music in general, so seeing SWW get as many votes as it did made my heart proud. My thanks to everyone who participated. Shawna
Of the entire list, I'm most excited to see the Beastie Boys get in. I knew you would be. that's why I asked if we should vote to honor the SFer or for what we liked best... I didn't vote for them, but I'm happy to see they made it for you. MindCrime
I think it would've been "cool" if the Beasties had gotten their first #1 through this PTT, but I am glad that Belinda got it. They were both duking it out for the top spot for a while and then she gained control towards the end. Another one of Carlisle's songs from that same album will be on my PTT (because I had my first sexual experience while it was playing). My biggest takeaways were Swimwear, Delphic & Depeche Mode. I have the Swimwear & Delphic songs in current rotation on my ipod now. For some reason I never payed attention to "Halo", despite having owned that Violator cassette sometime ago, great album! I think it should have appeared on Depeche Mode's Greatest Hits CD. Also, this is Mariah Carey's first time making it in, she's the most successful artist who hadn't made it in yet. Lucky
List is a great final list pinkstones, and I really enjoyed listening. You just introduced me to a lot of newer stuff I've never heard before. I was especially surprised at the number of female artists from your list that I voted for. It made me realize I have no women on my list, which is weird, I don't know how that happened. I think it's one of the reasons I enjoyed yours so much. pinkstones
It wasn't a conscious decision to have a lot of female artists/groups, I just scanned through my list of past nominations and pulled the ones that were from the mid-80s and onward. I'm glad you heard some new stuff that you liked. I hoped that everyone who voted would have found at least two songs they had never heard before and enjoyed them.
