[bigger]Old 55[/bigger]

This week we're going to honor the founder of the Songfactors Choice Top 10, who I am very saddened to hear will probably be leaving us soon. Darryl has been valuable to this weekly special in keeping it organized through his dedicated hard work. He was kind enough to give us a list of 35 of his favorite songs to listen to, and here they are.

You can listen to the tunes on his playlist of video links

Trivia: 34.5 out of 35 of these artists have never made the regular top 10 before. Who is the 0.5 artist that has?

Thanks very much for your kind words Kenne. I may leave the TT but vote in my friends' PTTs. I would also like to honour my promise of helping Brad to get the Archives completely updated. I do a little charity work, selling postage stamps online, and I've been neglecting that. All monies are used for orphans of the Japanese 2011 disasters.

I hope I'm not setting all of you too big of a task by including so many oldies. Many of those are songs (of which I had the singles) from my teenage years . Funny, listening to them again made me nostalgic. It also made me realise just how lucky I am to have the dear woman I've been married to for almost 44 years, raising 5 children and having 2 grandchildren. I wouldn't change any of it. Also stumbling across the Songfacts Site 8 years ago has brought me so many good friends, who, unfortunately I'll probably never meet. Thank you all for your friendship. There's been differences at times, but there isn't one person here whom I wouldn't call friend.

We'll miss you Darryl. I love being able to have someone to enjoy the oldies with, and to learn about those oldies I had been unfamiliar with, and have developed even more of an appreciation of them, thanks to you and to SF in general.

And, assuming your question was not just rhetorical (as it probably was), the Beach Boys are the only prior TT act in your list. I am so looking forward to voting, but I want to give myself some time to carefully peruse your list.

Thanks Jeff. I've often thought how remarkably similar our tastes in music are, except your knowledge extends a couple of decades further than mine.

The "0.5 factor" is as you said the Beach Boys, accompanying Lorrie Morgan on 'Don't Worry Baby'. :headphones:

Thanks Beth, Laurie and Tim. :) I love Perry Como's voice. He was one of the 'Big Three' crooners with Crosby and Sinatra. I was tossing up between 'Magic Moments' and 'Catch A Falling Star' which was #1 on our first Oz Top 40 in 1958. Helen Reddy had a very unique voice and I'm glad to see her, and Juice, get your votes Laurie.

Many of you know I'm very fond of Instrumentals and it's great to see them getting support also. But I'm going to be very pleased with whatever you choose to be my Personal Top Ten. :headphones:

Thanks for voting Carole and Sammy. :)

Carole, the Oldies must be good, because they keep getting covered, and are used on so many Movie soundtracks.

And Sammy,'or Womack' is spot on in that studio recording. The late Cecil Womack is just a spectator to Linda and her backup singers.
