MindCrime
What is the ruling on dates for nominated songs that were only performed live and not in the recording studio? Is it when the song was recorded live or when it first appeared on an album? This applies to both my Bruce Springsteen and Joe's David Byrne picks for this week. (which incidentally is originally by Whitney Houston, not Donna Summer as stated above.) Both songs were performed live several years before they were actually published on a live album. Any thoughts or input on this?
edna
I think the song must be released, that's the main rule. And no performances like Clapton&Preston live in Tributes or bootlegs... It must be a song that's on an official record. I have no clue for the rest of the rules... I'm not even sure if what I said in my post is right... TheLizard
Kenne, your Springsteen nomination does have an offical studio release. It's on The Promise, a collection of outtakes from the Darkness At The Edge of Town sessions released in 2010. That being said, I think live songs would be fine as long as they're on an official live album.
MindCrime
It was on his "Live/1975–85" album that was released in 1986, so I went with that. I couldn't find a studio version on Youtube, though I read that it was finally released in 2010. Edited March 21, 2013 by Guest
