edna
Nobody writes catchier songs than They Might Be Giants. Nanobots is no exception. I love this band. Tim, I was trying to find out about "Fake Out In Buenos Aires". I wonder what they mean... Do you have any clue? I'm curious, I was born there... TheLizard
Most of their songs aren't worth reading too much into. They probably just thought it sounded good.
edna
Oh... well, thank you... I thought they probably had a bad experience there... I'll try to find out and then I'll let you know...
RockyRaccoon
So I don't know what the general consensus is on Justin Timberlake around here, but holy crap is "The 20/20 Experience" a near-perfect pop album.
TheLizard
I appear to be the only person in the world who doesn't like it.
RockyRaccoon
The smooth R&B feel of "Pusher Love Girl" and "Suit & Tie" and the pop-ballad of "Mirrors", I love it. I mean, that's me, but I'm liking the album a lot.
RockyRaccoon
New Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album is fantastic. There are about three or four songs that are ok, but the rest are just amazing. Especially this song.
TheLizard
I really wanted to like it because he seems like such a good guy and he's a funny actor. And I feel like that's part of the reason it's getting all this critical acclaim. Unlike the vast majority of pop artists, JT is somebody who is easy to root for. I think this contributes, at least in part, to everybody treating this new album like it's "Thriller" when it's really "Invincible". As for the new BRMC album, I haven't listened to it yet, but I obviously will soon because they're awesome.
RockyRaccoon
I think it's very impressive that JT released a pop album where only three songs are under seven minutes long.
TheLizard
It's less a pop album and more a neo-soul album. He's trying very hard to be D'Angelo.
RockyRaccoon
New album by The Strokes is fantastic, as per usual from them. Julian Casablancas proves how awesome his voice really is with a sweet falsetto on a few of these songs.
TheLizard
I've just listened to it. So if Phoenix are the new Strokes and now Strokes are the new Phoenix, will rock just eat itself?
RockyRaccoon
I've just listened to it. So if Phoenix are the new Strokes and now Strokes are the new Phoenix, will rock just eat itself? I haven't listened to the new Phoenix album yet, does it really sound like The Strokes? RockyRaccoon
Also, finally listened to the new Bowie album. Good, not great. I enjoyed it, especially a couple of songs ("The Stars (Are Out Tonight)" and "Love Is Lost" specifically), but I wasn't wowed like I had hoped I would be. TheLizard
I've always thought that Phoenix was a poppier rip-off of latter-day Strokes. Not in a bad way, but still. And now this new record sounds like a rip-off of Phoenix. It's just a weird cycle.
RockyRaccoon
New album form Tyler, The Creator is pretty good, has some great songs on it. Some not so great, but for the most part it's good, check it out.
TheLizard
I've never been able to get into Tyler the Creator. Or Earl Sweatshirt for that matter. Really the only Odd Future member I find interesting is Frank Ocean.
RockyRaccoon
Check out this song. Really nice song, one of the best on the album. Very personal song. The album is kind of disjointed, because you get songs like this, and then songs all about how awesome he is. It's weird.
RockyRaccoon
Also, go listen to the new Night Beds album "Country Sleep". It's amazing, seriously. Beautiful indie-folk music.
RockyRaccoon
New album from The Flaming Lips, "The Terror" is great. Couple moments where it gets a little over-indulgent, but generally, it's really good.
TheLizard
I'm listening to it right now. I love this freaking band.
RockyRaccoon
I'm listening to it right now. I love this freaking band. It's so good. "You Lust" is a little meh for me, but "You Are Alone", "Be Free, A Way" and "The Terror" are all SO good.
TheLizard
Black Sabbath returns! The old guys sound pretty good to me.
TheLizard
New album from The Thermals sounds like a new album from The Thermals. Hey, if it ain't broke...
TheLizard
Heart of Oak by Anciients is easily the best metal album of the year so far. At least until the new Sabbath comes out...
