Carl Posted January 14, 2013 Report Share Posted January 14, 2013 Anyone catch the Golden Globes? Surprisingly watchable and entertaining show. Amy Poehler warned ahead of time that she she had a case of the "f--k its," which made her the perfect host alongside Tina Fey, who remains one of the best comedy writers in the biz. They were bitingly funny without sounding too cruel (James Cameron may disagree), and the show played out like a good episode of Saturday Night Live. Apparently, there are some good movies out there right now, and the awards were spread among them. Lots of edgy stuff in both movies and TV seems to be hot right now. The biggest moment was Jodie Foster's speech after she received their version of the lifetime achievement award. It was one of those landmark moments that can only happen with an open mike on a live telecast. Foster, who is one of the great actresses of our time, delivered a grateful and impassioned speech that ranks up there with any of her performances. He probably has 1000s of requests for appearances, and nothing better to do than pick and choose which ones to honor. That ceremony was his home turf, and he got the requisite standing ovation.
