Farin
Starálfur - Sigur Rós (2007) Just last week I was watching Heima again and especially Starálfur has a really nice performance there, so thanks for nominating that Fun Fact: the whole strings arrangement in this song is palindromic, meaning it's the exact same played forward and backward (you can hear it here)
pinkstones
They're one of my favorite contemporary groups, along with Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse, and the Black Keys. I was going to nominate Beck, but I noticed he's got songs in the TT already, though not a #1. Maybe I'll save him for when we do that special. The River - The Tea Party (1993) This is about as new as I get. BTW: frontman Jeff Martin's main musical influence is Roy Harper and they work alot together. Shawna
1. Green and Dumb ~ Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers Really quite a beautiful song, if you'd just give it a listen. (lyrics below) 2. Steady as She Goes ~ Raconteurs Not much of a White Stripes fan, but I like this foray outside of it. Green and Dumb Daisies stand up on their tip-toes Clouds tumble over themselves in the sky And all the pretty horses come runnin' to her And even the dust devils pray that they'll catch her eye I haunt her house from the outside I watch her bake cornbread and talk on the phone And the wireless on the inside plays a sad sweet song A mute moonlit statue am I, she waltzes alone But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue And baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green and dumb The wind ain't stopped blowin' since morning It's got me froze up on the inside And I could get warm in the bunk house And thaw out on coffee and bread But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green and dumb I need your government warning like I need a hole in my head Well, I won't shoot your coyotes And I won't burn your weeds Your paycheck won't fill up this hollow It won't dull all the achin' But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb
