RockyRaccoon
The Weather Channel keeps freaking out telling me it's going to hit my area (just outside of Annapolis, Maryland) really badly. I can't tell if they're sensationalizing it or if it really is the hurricane of the apocalypse that they're making it out to be. I tend to go towards the former. Shawna
according to this site, Rocky, it will only be a cat 2 by the time it hits Maryland. Unless my eyesight is more worthless than I thought.
RonJonSurfer
My son is running the Wild Half Marathon on Sunday which starts on the Wildwood Boardwalk. They run all the way to Stone Harbor and then turn around to finish on the boardwalk again. For those of you that don't know, Wildwood is just north of Cape May and in the hurricane zone. with that said, I'm heading down on Saturday and staying until Monday. My hotel is on the beach. However, the beach at Wildwood is 1/2 mile wide at points...we'll be good. My hotel room is ocean front too. I'll report back...hopefully.
Uncle Joe
I envy you, Ron.

For a point of reference (not that anybody asked for one) here is a view of where Wildwood is relative to a potential storm hit and the other photo sort of demonstrates how wide the beach is down there. RonJonSurfer
I envy you, Ron. I hope I'm not one of those people you see on the news and say "Why did that idiot stay there during a hurricane?" Based on the forecast, it will be rainy and windy, but not catastrophic. The Wildwoods are a major U.S. resort (I know you know this UJ)and they will do everything to keep business as usual. I'm hoping for some great meals, watching my son run in the rain and having fun...the beach is questionable.

RonJonSurfer
It is looking more and more like there will be a state of emergency with mandatory evacuation of the shore. I am so bummed over the timing of this, but you can't mess with Mother Nature.
Shawna
I do... of course you do. I was watching some weather update thing online and that is one whopper of a biggie, it's covering an awful lot of real estate.
RonJonSurfer
Race cancelled and Cape May county has a mandatory evacuation (which means the hotel has to refund my deposit). It still sucks...(or blows if it's a hurricane).

RonJonSurfer
Well it's beautiful today. Long Branch is one of the northernmost parts of the shore, so she'll be able to head out on Saturday and beat the storm back home.

Lucky
You all hang on. Even if it is "just" a category 2 (just?), it can still cause plenty of havoc. We'll be thinking of you all, stay safe!
