Mike
Paul McCartney has been signed to Decca Records nearly 50 years after the label famously rejected the Beatles, claiming that the group had "no future in show business." Decca has partnered with McCartney to release the score of Ocean's Kingdom, his first ballet. The production will make its debut at the New York City Ballet's fall gala on September 22nd. The record is set to hit stores in England on October 3rd. In an interview with the New York Times earlier this year, McCartney said that the work is "basically a romantic story" about a couple from opposite worlds – an ocean kingdom, which represents purity, and an earth kingdom, which represents darkness and evil. miamisammy29
This company rejected a band called the Beatles because they had no future in the business? But now they're gonna market Paul McCartney's ballet? Oh my! Some of the greatest business minds ever! I, for one, will be buying TONS of their stock. It should shoot through the roof any day now! Mike
C'mon Paul, stick it to 'em...we know that's why you signed with Decca... The fact that he doing a ballet... I would say... IS sticking it to them. Hopefully they are paying all the costs of this venture and then will loose a ton of money when it flops... then Paul can respond with... "gee, I guess I was right, I have no future in ballet"
Steel2Velvet
... about a couple from opposite worlds – an ocean kingdom, which represents purity, and an earth kingdom, which represents darkness and evil. Guess it's safe to suppose the script will not call for a fish named Heather.
