Farin
So... is what your saying is... if the two of them play electronically instead of acoustically ... is it a band ? You mean like Air, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, MGMT... ? or how about The Dresden Dolls or Blood Red Shoes? I guess for me a band is every musical collective that can be seen as one entity. If it's two (already otherwise active) musicians coming together to do a musical project together, then that's a duo for me but again, that's just my personal view
pinkstones
I think the difference for me would be how they're billed. Simon & Garfunkel = Each name billed separately = duo The White Stripes = No individual names billed at all = band
TheLizard
Can't they both be both?
MindCrime
3rd nominations will be accepted for the next couple of days. We're behind on the amount of nominations, not even 30 yet and voting needs to get under way. I was originally hoping to have the results by the 4th, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Lucky
You know what, it's not a huge deal, certainly not enough to generate this huge discussion. I apologize, it never occurred to me that it would become a big deal. Like Tim said the semantics of it are silly, and unnecessary. Please, nominate The White Stripes, or whichever artists that you feel fit the category. Who am I to say you can't nominate this or that. Shoot, if you know of a decent freaking one man band, go for it, it's fine. The only reason I clarified it at all was to differentiate between bands & vocal groups etc. The instruments are the key point for me, so let's just say as long as somebody plays some sort of instrument it's a band & acceptable. Ok? Good. carry on please.
