The spelling was news to me as well. I searched it because I was curious, and included the link just to share the result.

It's still not clear to me why they used this unusual form ( a typo passed along from handwritten copy? an intentional affectation? an inside joke? ?? ).

Funny, that the link you provided dates "Natural Born Bugie" in '69 when in fact I was almost certain it was in '68? Odd, isn't it?

One thing's for sure; there's always something to be learned at Songfacts.
