Carl
Bowling for Soup has some goofy songs, and many of the interviews that lead singer/songwriter Jaret Reddick does are equally goofy. Sample exchange: Q: Have you ever been embarrassed? A: No, but I have had a bare ass. I wanted to avoid this, and was very happy when Jaret took this seriously and opened up. We learned that the goofy stuff comes from when he started out, and didn't think anyone would want to hear what he had to say. Along the way, he learned that he could make people happy with these songs, and that remains his goal. The thing is, there is some deeper meaning in a lot of these songs, and a few are very intense. "High School Never Ends," for example, can have quite an impact on those of us who struggled through teenhood just to find that the real world wasn't all that different in a lot of ways. We also learned that Jaret is the undisputed leader of the band, and micromanages the hell out of it. The band is cool with it because they don't have to deal with the drama and know they'll get paid. And then there's Phineas and Ferb. If you have kids of a certain age, you know this show, and it's really good. Bowling for Soup does the theme song, and Jaret has a recurring role. We covered a lot of ground there. Tenacious_Peaches
I just listened to the Phineas and Ferb part of the interview on YouTube. Most excellent.
Shawna
I said it on FB but it bears repeating: This may be one of my all-time favorite interviews, even though I had no clue (before I read it) who this guy is.
