I'm going to have to go with End of the Road by Boyz II Men. There aren't a lot of good songs that were #1 on my birthday in my lifetime.

Before I was born, probably Hey Jude, which was over a decade prior to my birth.

Worst: Soulja Boy from a few years ago. A lot of the more recent ones I have never heard of based on title alone.

These would have to be my favorites…

The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand

The Temptations - My Girl

The J. Geils Band - Centerfold

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

Van Halen - Jump

And the most recent song on the list I recognize, mainly because it was a country song:

Lonestar - Amazed (2000)

I always liked #42 El Paso

Not many dislike Spanish guitar though a few show no badges. Imagine this...

A thousand men, say, go searchin' for gold.

After six months, one of them's lucky: one out of a thousand. His find represents not only his own labor, but that of nine hundred and ninety-nine others to boot.

That's six thousand months, five hundred years, scramblin' over a mountain, goin' hungry and thirsty.

Gold's a devilish sort of thing, anyway.

You start out, you tell yourself you'll be satisfied with 25,000 handsome smackers worth of it.

After months of sweatin' yourself dizzy, and growin' short on provisions, and findin' nothin', you finally come down to 15,000, then ten. Finally, you say,

"Lord, let me just find $5,000 worth and I'll never ask for anythin' more the rest of my life."

:D

If I answer this I may be admitting I could be one of the oldest music lovers among you. :o

I don't recognize most of the songs that were

hit records the year I was born except for

"Ghost Riders in the Sky" by Vaughn Monroe.

And "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"

by Gene Autry

Good God, I'm old, but not in my head.
