pinkstones
Alright! Both my noms made it in this week! Even better, so did Pink Floyd! What a nice start to my Friday afternoon.
MindCrime
I really didn't expect Mad World to make it, but it did and highly too. This is a great assortment of songs, though it's a shame that Pearl Jam and QotSA both just barely missed out. I almost voted for both of them. MuzikTyme
Lots of good songs displayed this week. But I'd expect nothing less from SONGFACTORS! Keep up the great work (as if y'all needed me to say that)
OLD 55
Good nomination Tim Lizard. Buddy Holly was an amazing singer and songwriter and Oh,Boy!'s a worthy #1. Onya edna. Your perserverance with 'Lady d'Arbanville' paid off at last. Ditto with Jenny. She first nominated that beautiful song 'Eternal Flame' back in TT#43. Lucky
Not my favorite ten at all, I only really care for 3 songs on the list. But congrats to those of you whose noms did make it! Glad to see Buddy Holly at the top where he belongs.
skybluesky
I'm sorry to Jenny and any one who voted for Eternal Flame, but I loathe, hate, and otherwise despise that song
Jenny
That's OK....I don't take offense at someone not liking what I nominate. I'm more surprised when I get a song in the TT I really don't care for the Tears for Fears version of "Mad World", I prefer Gary Jules' cover, even though I know that a few SFers loathe that version. To each his own!
skybluesky
I usually don't admit I loathe a song some one has nominated. It has to be a very special case But obviously other people like that song or it wouldn't have made the ten
RockyRaccoon
Always good to see Tears For Fears in the ten I had to vote them number one. I don't think I actually had a choice, I just had to haha. I love both that version and Gary Jules version. But then again, I love absolutely anything Tears For Fears does. And I also happen to LOVE "Eternal Flame". Though I guess I wasn't around when it was on the radio, perhaps it was overplayed. One of the advantages I have as a youngin, I don't have to hear older songs get overplayed My noms had too much good competition this week. Though I was surprised to see The White Stripes do better than Bloodrock. Great ten though!
MindCrime
Speaking of Gary Jules version of Mad World. My best friend (who's in a band) did that song at a karaoke bar we were at last night and it was just amazing. Completely caught me off guard. OLD 55
In my PTT I went through and listed all of my old nominations that hadn't made the Ten and chose 50 of them. Then when the PTT was finished, I nominated the top 2 chosen by my friends in the next Top Ten. It's a long exercise but fun.
MindCrime
did any of them make it in after that?
OLD 55
Hi Kenne. Yes, the Top 2 chosen by my friends in my PTT were 'Hey Tonight' and '(They Long To Be) Close To You'. I nominated them in TT161 and they went #1 and #2 in that also. That was back in April 2009 and I left the TT a couple of months after. I'm sure some of the other songs have subsequently made it when nominated by others. I'll have a look through my List ( Link , in case anyone's interested) and maybe nominate some from it in the next few weeks' TTs. Of course that doesn't mean that I'm 'reserving' them if someone else plans to nominate any.
