MindCrime
A Seattle man has reportedly offered Weezer 10 million dollars to stop making music. A former fan of the band, James Burns is raising the money for the cause because he is disappointed with the direction the band has taken recently. He says that due to making “whimsical cutesy album covers†and not staying true to themselves he is begging for no more from Weezer. "This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now," Burns said, lamenting the fact that Weezer has not produced a good album since "Pinkerton," the follow-up to their debut Blue album. He bashes front man Rivers Cuomo for making promises he can't keep and producing "whimsical cutesy album covers" instead. "I beg you, Weezer," Burns signed off. "Take our money and disappear" Drummer Patrick Wilson took the campaign in stride offering to give the fundraisers more bang for more buck. "If they can make it to 20, we'll do the 'deluxe breakup!'" he tweeted. In other Weezer news, the band has added stops in New York and Chicago for their 'Blinkerton' tour which features a two night show in each city were the band plays '94's Blue Album and '96's Pinkerton in their entirety. The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on November 26 and includes dates in San Francisco and Boston in addition to the new dates just announced. Carl
I once offered the piano player in a piano bar $5 not to play any Billy Joel songs, and that didn't fly either.
RockyRaccoon
Personally, I still love Weezer. Hurley was a great album.
Jenny
I'll take that $10 million if he really wants to get rid of it
miamisammy29
They should take the ten million, break up, and then do a reunion tour six months later. That would be the ultimate mindf*ck! Mr. Burns: "Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed." Smithers: "But, sir..." Mr. Burns: "JUST DO IT!!"

Ombre Vivante
I was serious. So, where do we donate for the break-up-weezer fund?
MuzikTyme
Muziktyme's P.O. box! 10 million sounds like a lot of money but to a band like Weezer it's pocket change. And Weezer, IMO, is not as good as bands that make far more. Why do celebrities become rich while school teachers sometimes wonder if they'll be able to meet their monthly budget enough to put food on their table? I feel there is something wrong with society's priorities.
MindCrime
I feel there is something wrong with society's priorities. I agree, I don't understand how somebody like Lindsay Lohan gets more attention for her rehab tabloids than soldiers who lost their lives for freedom don't get much media coverage.
