Thank God Jacko wasn't #1.

Thriller is one of the most important albums of all time. I remember when it came out. My neighbor got it the first day it was in stores and all the other kids in the neighborhood were in awe. We listened to it at least three times that day. And all the kids at my school went around with white socks and penny loafers. I even had a MJ transistor radio. And still today you see people referencing or re-creating the Thriller dance, and the video is still the all time standard. I'm not saying this to argue that the boss shouldn't have been number one. On the contrary - I remember that one being huge among every one I knew.

As a child of the 80s I wished Culture Club, Duran Duran, and Whitney Houston had been nominated. That's what I remember about the 80s - the pop music. It's what I listened to back then.

Wow Tom Petty actually made it, that was totally unexpected :coolio:

As a child of the 80s I wished... Duran Duran... had been nominated.

I almost nominated Rio. It came down to them and the Clash for my second nom and I went with the other.

one of my noms made #5

I thought you didn't like GnR

I can remember "Thriller" debuting on MTV, and "scheduling" the time to watch it. We were at dinner at a friend's house and gathered 'round the TV. It was like waaay back when I was little and watching "Rudolph" on TV was a big deal.

I worked in a TV show by then and some of its videos debuted in our TV show in Spain. I was very much into the music industry in these days and I remember I didn't really like the album very much -I much prefered the Jackson5- but you cannot deny it's a milestone in pop history.

We also gathered round the tv in a friend' s house and gathered to see the videos... :)

Number one is no surprise at all but number two kinda is. I had nominated AC/DC for one of these specials before and it got few votes. Glad to see it got in.

I think the rest of the list is pretty good as well. Those were the most popular albums of the time (at least for the area I was living in) so I think for that reason alone it's a good list :D

No. It wasn't one of the decade 10's it was further back then that. I'll check sometime because I'm curious now two. But...

I'm on my second cup of coffee and I still can't face the day / I'm thinking of the lady who got lost along the way / And if I don't stop this trembling from reaching for the phone/ I'll be reaching for the bottle Load before this day is done. - G.Lightfoot :D

Ok now that I'm coffeed up :D

Laurie nominated them for the Groundbreakers round and they didn't make it there. They only got six points :(

This was what I was thinking of. It was in the Best Live Albums of all time ;)

DH suggested I nominate this one when I couldn't decide and asked him for input. Way to go DH  I will be nominating AC/DC live as my next album. I will put it up this evening.

I didn't see the points listed anywhere but if I recall they didn't do to good that time either. Givin the competition all the artists we nominate have when we make these lists, an artist or band not making a list really doesn't mean much. Depends on what kind of a list it is. They can't all win everytime . I am happy they did well this time tho :D
