It isn't to do with the quality of songs, it's that there isn't much point to voting songs into the list anymore, it's become a tired thing with no real point to begin with. Unless this is being used for the means of discovering new music, other wise the popularity contest aspect of this whole thing is redundant.

I never thought there was a popularity contest aspect to it at all. I use it to discover new songs and to get a glimpse into the twisted inner workings of my Songfacts family. Hell, if it was a popularity contest my songs would make the ten every week. Because I'm so fabulous and charming and popular, y'know. :beatnik:

I meant otherwise, the whole voting songs part in is overdone, who cares about the list of 2,250 songs. It seems like it's now the in thing to be one of the few hit songs to not make the list. :beatnik:

I am absolutely stunned that not a single one of you has Marvin in their top ten. And not because I nominated him. If someone else had I would have put that ultimate break-up song at the top of my list.

It's happened to all of us. The thing to remember is that people are listening to the song and not just ignoring it. Maybe people like it, but like 10 songs better. If we were allowed 15 songs instead of 10, it would be #11 or 12 on my list.

I was just heading off to work and just popped in for a sec and saw BIG's post. I had to comment ;)

I know what your saying about awesome Marvin. I have been trying to get "Trouble Man", in the top for ages and never got even close.

It all boils down to a matter of taste and what Pink said. I have nominated many, many songs that didn't get a vote. Many of us have. As for your nomination I love Marvin Gaye but I don't care to much for that song.

I don't think the TT's are gone forever so stick around and try it again ;)

Hang in there BIG. You'll get another chance with that song. Possibly when we do the Top Ten Breakup songs. ;)

I gotta tell you, I have nominated many songs that never got a peep. And like you, I was stunned. don't take as a comment on the song itself. Like pink said, it all depends on the choices for the week, and the people that are playing.

Big, I've never missed a single Top Ten and I have a long list of nominations that never ever made it  I can't understand why (leonard Cohen, Steve Harley, Bill deal, etc) so I nominate them over an over again...

BIG, I know how you feel brother. I once nominated a Greg Allman/Cher duet, and I received not a single vote. Can you believe THAT. I also think we are over evaluating THE TEN. It's just a fun thing to do. I hope it comes back.
