Lucky
Pink, I didn't realize that in the time you've been here we've only done the PTT's. Criminy, they've been going on a looong time. Anyway, what you're describing is what we've done in the past, as "special" (themed) top tens. The ptt's sort of took them over, which we knew going in. And that is how they were done, without respect to whether the song has previously made the list. But anyway, I think you are right, that is basically what I was thinking of doing as well. I don't know how long our break will last, (maybe until just after labor day?) but I thought if/when we do start them again up we could do themed weeks, maybe even alternate them with regular weeks, so we don't overdo the themes etc. Sammy's is an idea worth considering as well, 2 week runs, a week to nominate & a week to vote more or less. Keep the ideas coming, we'll soon figure out the Top Ten 2. Edited June 30, 2010 by Guest
Lucky
Is there much if any interest in the Ultimate Top 10? This would be the last week for the next set. Only if you feel like it Kenne and you have the time, I say please let's do it. Let's finish it up properly. But it can wait awhile.
edna
Yes, the Top Ten MUST come back. It IS the highlight of my work week. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that wants to see the ten go on. I have fun with the thing, dang it. Also to y'all .... it may have taken the threat of no more Top Ten to do it, but we're back to 50 nominations (so far) with Liberal's additions. Nice to see you Liberal .... Woohoo! Oh, I would miss the TT too!! It's part of my week by now... I still thank Darryl for this... I discovered and found again so many songs I will never be able to be thankful enough. I'd love to go with it but I understand those who run it might be a bit tired. Dappled
After next week I'll be away for three weeks so this summer sabbatical is OK by me. I hope the TT's will be back however. It's great fun. I'd like to see 3 or 4 regular Top Tens and then a themed one. We've never done an instrumental top ten yet!! Maybe we could take turns deciding on the themes? Jenny
I like Sammy's idea. Maybe give people up to 4 nominations and have 2-3 weeks to vote? If we don't do ultimates or PTTS anymore, I think that would give us more time to participate and vote, so if you're on vacation, or really busy with work/school/life, you wouldn't feel pressured to listen to three different lists, just one. I don't know about the themed ones all the time, because they would interfere with the Songfactors choice. Maybe ones that mesh with holidays, seasons, things like that, so they only happen every few TTs.....

MindCrime
The fact that I had to leave off so many good songs proves that this little game is not over yet. It isn't to do with the quality of songs, it's that there isn't much point to voting songs into the list anymore, it's become a tired thing with no real point to begin with. Unless this is being used for the means of discovering new music, other wise the popularity contest aspect of this whole thing is redundant. I guess I got in here too late or something...I've heard and discovered more songs here... ...just in this choice top ten...I don't always agree with it...but I get to listen to songs that I've never heard or would probably have never heard...maybe take a break...or change it up a little...but I always look forward to this...
