Heimann47
Godsmack is named after the Alice in Chains song, however there is currently no fact listing for that song. I could submit one sometime this week though. The band's name, according to Merrill in the Smack This! DVD, was taken from the Alice in Chains' song "God Smack". However, Erna stated in a 1999 interview that "I was making fun of somebody who had a cold sore on his lip and the next day I had one myself and somebody said, 'It's a godsmack.' The name stuck. We were aware of the Alice in Chains song but didn't really think much about it. It's a cool song and the name had meaning for us"
Heimann47
My favorite band's name, Between The Buried And Me, isn't a song title, but rather from the lyrics of the song "Ghost Train" by Counting Crows Ghost Train - Counting Crows I took the cannonball down to the ocean Across the desert from sea to shining sea I rode a ladder that climbs across the nation Fifty million feet of earth between the buried and me "How do you do?" She said, "Hey, how do you do?" She buys a ticket 'cause it's cold where she comes from She climbs aboard because she's scared of getting older in the snow Love is a ghost train rumbling through the darkness Hold on to me darling I've got nowhere else to go "How do you do?" She said, "How do you do?" I took the cannonball down to the ocean Watched the diesel disappear beneath the tumbling waves Love is a ghost train howling on the radio "Remember everything." she said, "when only memory remains." "How do you do?" She said, "Hey, how do you do?" Edited June 24, 2010 by Guest
Lucky
It occured to me, and Chris will be proud that I thought of it, that the Australian band Powderfinger was taken from the Neil Young song. Turns out I was right. Powderfinger was formed in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Ian Haug, bassist John Collins and drummer Steven Bishop,[7] who took their band's name from the Neil Young song "Powderfinger". Ombre Vivante
- Bananarama is derived from "Pyjamarama" and Ladytron is derived from "Ladytron" - both songs by Roxy Music - I think Suede came from "Suedehead" by Morrissey. - Negativland got their name from a song by Neu!
