blind-fitter
1) I Found That Essence Rare – Gang of Four 2) Down in the Tube Station At Midnight -The Jam 3) Change – Killing Joke 4) Black Steel – Tricky 5) Wandering Star – Portishead 6) Where is My Mind? – Pixies 7) She Sells Sanctuary – The Cult 8) Life on Mars? – David Bowie 9) Step On – Happy Mondays 10) Judy is a Punk – Ramones Those first three could easily figure in my own Top 10. "...Essence..." is my favourite track from my favourite album of all time,"Entertainment!". "Change" is one of my favourite tracks by my favourite band of all time:Killing Joke. And "Tubestation" is one of my favourite singles, by one of my favourite bands from my youth, THe Jam. How to go about grading them in preferential order? There were about another 15 that didn't quite make the cut! (including stuff by some of my other, more recent favourite bands: Guided By Voices, Eels, The Kills...) (By "more recent", I mean "of the last 15 years or so", though the mid 90s might not seem that recent to some. )

Lucky
I hope your final list isn't too classic for you .... but I think it rocks! More than your ten though, thanks for introducing me to music I definately wouldn't have heard and enjoyed otherwise, Nicole.
MindCrime
Petty, Marley, Guns N Roses, Skynyrd, and so many other great artists made it in This list has around 9 of the same bands as mine, but none are the same songs
skybluesky
Yay, I gave The Kills their only point
BlueAngel
I'm quite happy with result, it's not a big surprise it leaned to the classic side but I love each of the fifty pretty equally so any combination is awesome to me. Thanks to everyone who participated and especially Steel2Velvet for hosting/organizing this thing. I love sharing (or just generally prattling on about) music, so this was lots of fun.
