All members of Songfacts are most welcome to vote and help create next week's Top 40. Don't be shy. It may look a little complicated, but it's not really. You don't have to be an 'oldie' - just someone who appreciates this kind of music.

.................................................

Eligibility of songs:

* No Album Only Tracks or Uncharted B Sides.

* U.S. Chart Links may be found for on Songfacts' Main Index page, where there are alphabetical links to many songs, either by Title or Artist. If your songs aren't there, you could use Google/Wikipedia - or PT Cyberjudge if in doubt.

..................................................

IT'S EASY Allot your points in 3 sections:

PART A: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #40 (below) you'd like to advance:

(Plus) +5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

PART B: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #40 (below) you don't really care for, or you think could make way for other New songs.:

(Minus) -5, -4, -3, -2, -1.

PART C: 5 New Songs you'd like to see in the next Top 40:

(Plus) *5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

Glad to see a new face. But in order to count your vote, I need you to list five songs to move up (+5 through +1) and 5 songs to drop (-5 through -1). Since I see you're on line now, please add these picks, so I can complete the tally.

Well, folks, it’s time once again for another edition of Golden Oldies Top 40. I’m your host, DJ Ceejay, and I’ll be bringing you this week’s countdown of oldies favorites, as voted on songfacts.com.

Last week, Stevie Wonder vaulted into the #1 spot with Fingertips (Part II). Will he keep his grip on the #1 spot? We’ll find out in just a bit.

2 songs drop out this week:

Walk Like a Man by the 4 Seasons walks out like a man after 13 weeks and a top-20 (#19) peak.

And Frosty the Snowman melts away … but he’ll be back again someday!

2 songs enter the chart this week … but it’s déjà vu all over again, as both are re-entries of big hits by “Little†artists!

Little Eva chugs back into our countdown at #39, with a song penned by Carole King & Gerry Goffin, The Loco-Motion.

And Little Richard sallies forth into our chart at #34 with a song he previously took to #5, Long Tall Sally.

TW 31 LW 34 (12) DUKE OF EARL GENE CHANDLER

TW 32 LW 36 (10) MACK THE KNIFE BOBBY DARIN

TW 33 LW 30 (5) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER GENE AUTRY

TW 34 R/E (15) LONG TALL SALLY LITTLE RICHARD

TW 35 LW 35 (12) GREENFIELDS BROTHERS FOUR

TW 36 LW 32 (5) THE CHIPMUNK SONG THE CHIPMUNKS

TW 37 LW 33 (5) SANTA BABY EARTHA KITT

TW 38 LW 28 (6) WHITE CHRISTMAS BING CROSBY

TW 39 R/E (3) THE LOCO-MOTION LITTLE EVA

TW 40 LW 37 (4) I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS JIMMY BOYD

Nat King Cole has 3 songs in the top 30 this week; he rambles up 6 spots from #31 to #25 with Ramblin’ Rose, and 10 positions from #40 to #30 with Unforgetttable.

TW 21 LW 19 (17) THE WANDERER DION

TW 22 LW 22 (6) ROCKIN’ AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE BRENDA LEE

TW 23 LW 16 (16) PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON PETER, PAUL&MARY

TW 24 LW 21 (6) JINGLE BELL ROCK BOBBY HELMS

TW 25 LW 31 (12) RAMBLIN' ROSE NAT 'KING' COLE

TW 26 LW 27 (15) TOO YOUNG NAT 'KING' COLE

TW 28 LW 29 (17) STAGGER LEE LLOYD PRICE

TW 29 LW 25 (15) DEEP PURPLE NINO TEMPO & APRIL STEVENS

TW 30 LW 40 (2) UNFORGETTABLE NAT KING COLE

Guy Mitchell held the #5 spot on our very 1st chart with Singing the Blues. Now, 47 weeks, later, he re-enters the top 20, up from #26 to #19.

TW 11 LW 7 (16) BLOWIN' IN THE WIND PETER, PAUL & MARY

TW 12 LW 11 (11) HE’S SO FINE CHIFFONS

TW 13 LW 3 (15) BLUE ON BLUE BOBBY VINTON

TW 14 LW 12 (13) ONE FINE DAY CHIFFONS

TW 15 LW 14 (12) WHERE THE BOYS ARE CONNIE FRANCIS

TW 16 LW 15 (11) KEEP SEARCHIN' DEL SHANNON

TW 17 LW 18 (13) TWO FACES HAVE I LOU CHRISTIE

TW 18 LW 13 (16) SILHOUETTES RAYS

TW 19 LW 26 (14) SINGING THE BLUES GUY MITCHELL

TW 20 LW 10 (17) ALL THE WAY FRANK SINATRA

It’s taken a while, but we finally have a major shake up in the top 10 this week, with 3 new entries:

Chuck Berry finally catches his 1st top 10, up from #17 to #10 with You Can’t Catch Me.

Sam Cooke, who had a #1 with Chain Gang, notches his 2nd top 10 with the week’s biggest mover, up 14 spots from #23 to #9 is Twistin’ the Night Away.

And the Drifters, who previously hit #8 with Up on the Roof, match that position as On Broadway drives 12 places from #20 to #8.

TW 4 LW 8 (9) TAKE FIVE DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET

TW 5 LW 2 (14) POOR LITTLE FOOL RICKY NELSON

TW 6 LW 6 (13) JUDY'S TURN TO CRY LESLEY GORE

TW 7 LW 4 (11) TOWN WITHOUT PITY GENE PITNEY

TW 8 LW 20 (3) ON BROADWAY DRIFTERS

TW 9 LW 23 (3) TWISTIN THE NIGHT AWAY SAM COOKE

TW 10 LW 17 (10) YOU CAN’T CATCH ME CHUCK BERRY

Now for the top 3:

Stevie Wonder makes it only a 1-week stop at #1 as he falls to #3 with Fingertips (Part II).

Brenda Lee takes her biggest hit to #2, I’m Sorry.

TW 2 LW 5 (11) I’M SORRY BRENDA LEE

TW 3 LW 1 (10) FINGERTIPS (PART II) STEVIE WONDER

And now for a new #1. Last week, Fingertips (Part II) went from #6 to #1, the biggest jump to #1 since Del Shannon’s Runaway in week #3. This week, our new #1 soars all the way from the #9 spot right to the top. The new #1 on Golden Oldies Top 40 is:

:drummer:

TW 1 LW 9 (8) IT’S ONLY MAKE BELIEVE CONWAY TWITTY

That concludes this week's countdown on Golden Oldies Top 40. We'll have just 2 more countdowns before our grand finale, the Ultimate Golden Oldies Top 40. Until next time, keep your head in the stars :stars: and keep reaching for the ground.
