Help finding the names of two songs

Dr.Pepper

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new here and I am not sure if this is the right place. I am trying to find the names of two different songs both from the '60's (possibly late 50 or early 70's). It has been so long since I have heard either one so I don't know much of the lyrics.

Song #1

* A man was singing

* The words were spoken rather than sang and each line rhymed with the next.

* I also remember the line "it's all over for me *laughs*"

Song #2

* A woman was singing

* I think the song was about her being a grown up now

* I am pretty sure the song started off quiet and got louder as it went on, so at the end she was belting out the lyrics.

Sorry for the vagueness :(

Hey there Dr. Pepper, welcome to Songfacts. :)

This should be right up my alley .... but initially nothing rings a bell. Do you remember anything else at all about the songs or artists? The music itself? Are these (either of them) up tempo or slow? The tone of the lyrics, as in happy, sad, reflective, etc? I'm puzzled, but I'll give it a shot. Someone will come along with better help, I hope! :P

I do seem to recall the lines "You see little girl, I don't want you around here no more/ I don't want to see you face around my door" from the first song. Also the first song was upbeat and there was a mini guitar (?) solo between each stanza.

EDIT: The name of the first song is "little Girl" by Syndicate of Sound. Can some one give me a list of female artists that I can look up and hopefully find the second song.

Little Girl

I had to look it up ... I may have heard it before, but I'd never have known it. Great song.

As far as the other one how about some of these:

Dusty Springfield

Laura Nyro

Joan Baez

Judy Collins

Joni Mitchell

Linda Ronstadt

Brenda Lee

Patsy Cline

Connie Francis

Skeeter Davis

Shelley Fabares

Aretha Franklin

Gladys Knight

Carole King

And about a zillion more. :stars: I think we need more to go on. :laughing:

I agree there are zillions of artists. Now that I think about it, the song didn't sound like it was from the '50's or early '60's. I am guessing that it is from the later '60's or '70's. I remember hearing it on an oldies station that my mom used to listen to 10 or 15 years ago. Its possible that it could have been by some one hit wonder.

EDIT: I was looking at a lot of songs. I think I found it! It's "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore
