Surrealisticpillows
I agreee the flaming lips are underrated, as well as Yonder Mountain string band, And what happened to the Unicorns?
Batman
Jake E. Lee definitely. When you talk about Ozzy's guitarists, you immediately talk about Randy (who is great) and Zakk (also great) but not Jake (also great)
beatleant
definitely. When you talk about Ozzy's guitarists, you immediately talk about Randy (who is great) and Zakk (also great) but not Jake (also great) Ozzy (and the fans) wanted another 'Randy' and even though Jake did his best (and succeeded in my opinion), you just can't make everyone happy. Jake is a phenomenal player. His work with 'Badlands' is definitely worth more than the price of admission. Jake is among my 'Top 5' favourite guitarists. Elvish
In this forum Blues music as a whole is underated, I believe. I agree with you one hundred percent, Windy.
XXX
In this forum Blues music as a whole is underated, I believe. And from a woman's point of view- Janis Joplin in particular. She was much more of a blues artist than rock IMO, and Jimi's blues tend to be underated also. I know what you mean. Futurist music (Industrial, Noise, EBM, New Wave, New Romantic, SynthPop) is also under-represented here...

MuzikTyme
I thought I'd dig this potato out of the Songfacts garden and mention a band that I'm very impressed with but never hear about. The following song by them, IMO, is nothing short of perfection. Progressive, tight and excellent harmony. Underrated is an understatement. If you've never heard of Seether, it would be to your benefit to check them out, soon. ~Fine Again~ It seems like every day?s the same and I?m left to discover on my own It seems like everything is gray and there?s no color to behold They say it?s over and I?m fine again, yeah Try to stay sober feels like I?m dying here And I am aware now of how everything?s gonna be fine one day Too late, I?m in hell I am prepared now, seems everyone?s gonna be fine One day too late, just as well I feel the dream in me expire and there?s no one left to blame it on I hear you label me a liar ?cause I can?t seem to get this through You say it?s over, I can sigh again, yeah Why try to stay sober when I?m dying here And I am aware now of how everything?s gonna be fine one day Too late, I?m in hell I am prepared now, seems everyone?s gonna be fine One day too late; just as well And I?m not scared now. I must assure you, you?re never gonna get away And I?m not scared now. And I?m not scared now. No? I am aware now of how everything?s gonna be fine one day Too late, I?m in hell I am prepared now seems everyone?s gonna be fine One day too late, just as well I am prepared now, seems everything?s gonna be fine for me For me; for myself. For me, for me, for myself For me, for me, for myself
scott
Hey Muzik! I really like Seether too. They sound an awful lot like Nirvana though, but that's okay 'cuz they do a good job at it anyway. I picked up 'Disclaimer' the day that I heard Fine Again, it's an excellent song. MuzikTyme
:: Somehow I knew you'd mention that but like you said, they do a fine job. My thought is that Seether and Audioslave are the best "new" bands in the progressive market. Ole scott has good taste in music.
scott
:: I suppose I'm just a *little* predictable, aren't I? Anyway Audioslave rocks! I'm gonna have to agree with you on the Seether and Audioslave, none of those pansy 'new rock' bands can touch 'em (hmmmm, should I pop in some Puddle Of Mudd or some Audioslave? Or, how about some 3 Doors Down or some Seether? Yeah, Seether and Audioslave could take any of 'em down)
Batman
Yeah, Audioslave is the best today. The white stripes too, but I guess they should'nt be in an underated thread.
MuzikTyme
Until Seether and Audioslave are on billboards, soup cans, slurpee cups and have an airport named after them then they will be considered underrated, by me at least. ::

daslied
"Your Time Is Gonna Come" - great choice. I'd like to add "Since I've Been Loving You."
usernameddr
Thin Lizzie Harlequin Barenaked Ladies I don't if Paul Simon because I have never heard anything about him but that might just be me. And the most critized when he shouldn't be would be Billy Joel but I don't know if that would fit in here either.

Great song, but I don't consider it underrated. After all, it's on their greatest hits album
daslied
That's a valid point. But you never seem to hear it mentioned with the radio staples - Stairway, Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, etc. I think the whole of "Led Zeppelin III" is pretty underrated, with the exception of "Immigrant Song".
