Farin
Just like the Fantasy Sports leagues - only with music The aim - to assemble the ultimate, imaginary festival line-up and gain as many points as possible through your acts' popularity in the real world (calculated by activity online). You can create custom leagues, invite your friends and battle it out for festival supremacy. Fantasy Festival NOTE: you need a last.fm account for playing, joining and playing is free of course Once you started your festival, you can add "Songfacts" as a league. EDIT: You can definitely still join until the 18th of November, probably even after that, but then other players will have a head start. comments, questions, etc - post them all here Edited November 12, 2009 by Guest

Farin
yes, I know that's why I have a joker in my lineup... a band that cost only 5000, currently has 0 Buzz points - but that will defintely change in the next weeks
The Seeker
By the way... is there a link back to the league somewhere? I can't find a way to get back to the league overview short of bookmarking it.

Farin
another tip: look out for different spellings... "Sigur Ros" is a cover band that's MUCH cheaper than the original, and almost as popular
Levis
Oh cool, hire them! No one will notice till its too late. I'm hanging around muddying up my bands' Connies for authenticity and shiz. Hopefully it rains and then everyone can be glum and muggy.
The Seeker
It's a festival; it's bound to rain.
MindCrime
i'll check it out later thanks, but there's going to have to be community support and interaction by people i know here for me to get involved. I don't do solo projects.
Levis
My festival is all solo, I plan to have it in the north of England somewhere where it's suitably grey and depressing and people can sullenly stare at their feet and brave electrocution and all that. I'm planning stalls and such so I can turn even MORE of a profit, as if the festival wasn't a WIN enough.
TheLizard
This seems fun, I guess I'll finally join last.fm. Prepare to be owned, biznatches.

Farin
wow, that's some fine class line up you've got there btw, why's your festival in GB too? I'm the only foreigner here
TheLizard
Because, I only speak English, so if I'm going to hold a festival somewhere it needs to be English speaking. Also, could somebody tell me exactly how last.fm works? I'm doing the whole scrobbling thing now, but I don't really know what that means.
Farin
well, I expected you'd put it in the US, really (since all others so far are in GB, I'd have called yours 'foreign' too) okay... last.fm there are two parts to the site: the radio stations, and the keeping of statistics (via scrobbling) to scrobble simply means to submit the data of what you're currently listening to (track and artist, and album optionally) everything you scrobble will get added to your library, this will tell you on the one hand what your favourite artists, tracks, etc were in the last 6 months, eg but more importantly, you can listen to everything in your library as a radio station and to recommendations based on what's in there and what isn't yet you can scrobble not only from the last.fm radio, but also from anything you listen to on your own PC, you need the software for that (btw, I prefer that program even to listen to the radios instead of the web-player) you can take a look at my profile for an example... feel free to browse through the library, tags, etc Edited November 12, 2009 by Guest
TheLizard
I just added you as a friend (our musical compatibility is very high ). Does this mean we can listen to each other's music? Also, does the personal radio just play tracks from my iTunes library, or does it add recommended tracks?
TheLizard
Hey look, there's a Songfacts group! Be friends with me, people!
Farin
already accepted you can listen to other people's libraries even without being a friend that personal radio only plays things that are already in your library, the recommendations are only extra and of course you can listen to all these "similar artists" radios, or to tag radios (eg Celtic Punk)
Farin
Also, does the personal radio just play tracks from my iTunes library, or does it add recommended tracks? on second thought... the "Neighbourhood" radio plays stuff from people who have a similar taste of music that you do - so in fact that could be something like "your stuff + stuff you don't know yet but could like"
TheLizard
If I play or add something to my iTunes library, does it automatically get scrobbled or do I need to do something to add that to my last.fm profile?
Farin
I'm actually not quite sure, I don't use iTunes could be that it's not added before you play it...
TheLizard
This is really cool, why haven't I been doing this longer? And how the crap has this not been shut down by greedy record executives?
