pinkstones
#6?! I wasn't expecting it to go that high. Let's aim for #1 now. Also very happy to see Lou Christie make the chart as well.
OLD 55
Pink, I thought we were going for #1 with Bobby. I'm pleased to see a couple of Novelty songs there for Halloween. That's if some Meanie doesn't vote them down before then.
Lea
I did miss the video Darryl. Very awesome indeed I will have to show it to my daughter she'll love it. She is throwing a 50's themed party for Halloween.
OLD 55
That sounds like fun Lea. We always have a supply of goodies for the neighborhood kids, although Halloween isn't as big here as in the States. Trouble is there's a few real weirdos around. Most parents here accompany their kids 'trick or treating'.

pinkstones
I have to say, I don't like novelty songs, even Halloween ones. I don't "do" kooky.

Lucky
I have to say, I don't like novelty songs, even Halloween ones. I don't "do" kooky. I've been listening to those kooky songs my entire life, and specifically Witch Doctor is one of my earliest music memories. Yay for the kooks! MindCrime
I initiated the 4 songs at the top, not knowing if anybody else would support them, so I'm very pleased and surprised.
pinkstones
Hey, it's great if you like them! I just happen to not like them, that's all. There's a few songs that I've gotten on the charts that very few have supported aside from me, so it's all good.
OLD 55
Thanks for updating the Play List Lars. I had a listen to that novelty song by Bo Diddley too. Yes the lyrics sound a re-work of 'Purple People Eater'. I'd never heard it before.
OLD 55
Get Rhythm had to have been close .... #41 with 14 points. Stay held on for another week by 1 point.
Lucky
And it's great if you don't do kooky ps. I was just voicing my opposite opinion. As you said, it's all good, and to each his own. Witch Doctor is a reminder of a special memory for me, is all I meant.
cyberjudge
Hello again and welcome to another installment of Golden Oldies Top 40. I’m DJ Ceejay, and I’ll be recapping this week’s action on the hottest chart on the web. 5 songs leave our countdown this week: Raindrops by Dee Clark splash down this week, after reaching its highest cloud at #14. Skeeter Davis’s The End of the World fulfills its prophecy this week as it’s the end of the line for the oldest song in last week’s countdown; dropping out after 16 weeks and a peak of #7. Mr.Excitement, Jackie Wilson's pillow gets a chance to dry off as Lonely Teardrops falls after 8 weeks. The former #1 Then He Kissed Me by the Crystals gets its kiss off this week, ending a 13 week run. And another former #1 drops out this week, as Little Sister by makes way for her big brothers and sisters after 15 weeks. That means 5 new songs grace our chart: The first debut at #39 signals that Halloween is just around the corner: Monster Mash by Bobby “Boris†Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers. At #38, the Chiffons, who had previously charted with He’s So Fine, return to the countdown with One Fine Day, written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Lou Christie has his 1st hit on our countdown, at #36, Two Faces Have I. And Lesley Gore, who hit #2 with It’s My Party and followed that up with the #1 You Don’t Own Me, returns to the countdown at #35 with her sequel to It’s My Party, Judy’s Turn to Cry. And the highest debut this week at #30 is another Halloween-themed song, Witch Doctor by David Seville. Two songs take double-digit walks up the chart this week, both strolling up 11 steps: The first, up from #35 to #24 is the 4th chart hit by the 4 Seasons, Walk Like a Man. The second, up from #17 to #6 is the 2nd top 10 hit for Bobby Vinton, Blue on Blue. Two other songs enter the top 10 this week: Garnet Mimms & the Enchanters move up from #18 to #10 with Cry Baby. And Peter Paul & Mary notch their 1st top 10 with Puff the Magic Dragon, up from #11 to #9. Now, let’s go to this week’s “GO-40 spotlightâ€: on artists that have placed at least 3 songs onto the countdown: There are 5 artists that have each had 3 songs hit the chart: The Beach Boys Chuck Berry The Crystals The Drifters, and Lesley Gore There are also 5 acts that have had 4 chart entries: Ray Charles The Everly Brothers The 4 Seasons Ricky Nelson, and Roy Orbison And there is 1 artist that has had more than 4 chart hits; in fact he has had 13! Of course, it’s the King, . Now let’s run down this week’s top 5: At #5, shining 5 spots higher than last week’s #10, are the Rays with Silhouettes. Dropping anchor at #4 after chaining together 3 weeks in the #1 post is Chain Gang by Sam Cooke. Holding at numero tres again this week is Spanish Harlem by Ben E King. Wandering up 2 places, from #4 to #2 is the Wanderer by Dion. And that means we have another new #1. This week, it’s the 1st instrumental to hit #1 on GO-40: Green Onions by Booker T & the MG’s. And there you have it; this week’s Go-40 countdown. Log in again next week, when we’ll do it all over again. This is DJ Ceejay signing out. Until next time, keep your head in the stars and keep reaching for the ground.
