MuzikTyme
One of my favorite endings of a movie was when Sidney Poitiar (Cullen) sang whilst Tony Curtis (Charlie Potatoes) watched as the sheriff took them back to prison "Bowlin' gree...een, sewing machine!" He threw his arms up as to say "I give up and don't care" "The Defiant Ones"

Steel2Velvet
I recall waiting for the audience of the previous showing to clear the theatre before my audience went in to see Chicago's first night of screening Bonnie And Clyde. At times like that I like to study the faces to guage how good/bad/funny/stupid the film might be. In this case - total silence among depating patrons and shell-shocked expressions - I remember thinking, "Wow, this must have some kind of impactful ending." Oh, yeah. BlueAngel
A few off the top of my head... Citizen Kane (1941) Rosebud. Silence of the Lambs (1991) "I'm having an old friend for dinner." The Italian Job (1969) A literal cliff-hanger. Les Diaboliques (1955) the original, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, one of the best shock endings ever. Chinatown (1974) "Forget it Jake, its Chinatown." TheLizard
Kubrick had some memorable endings: The space fetus, the Overlook picture, nuclear apocalypse, the Mickey Mouse club, and "I was cured alright".
MuzikTyme
Has anyone seen "The Happening" starring Mark Wahlberg? Disturbing, holes in logic, but still, a great movie IMO, not to mention its ending.

MindCrime
At least two films were ruined for me thanks to this thread If you've ever seen Dog Day Afternoon, starring Al Pacino, that one has a shocking ending.
MuzikTyme
Only two? lol I didn't mean this to be a "spoiler" thread, Mr. Crime. It's rare to see a bad movie starring Al Pacino but there're a few! I'm surprised you even know about "Dog Day Afternoon" since it's WAY before your time, Crime. But, props to you because you do! And yes, a very surreal ending! Whoops! How about the ending to "Who Slew Auntie Roo?" (Starring Shelly Winters) Or the ending to, "A Patch of Blue starring the star of the same name? Not to mention, "Requiem for a Dream?" Let's not forget, " What ever Happened to Baby Jane Starring Bette Davis & Joan Crawford? But, IMHO, the best endings were made by the MASTER of suspense: Alfred Hitchcock.
