Viaene 0
The Kinks’ 1976 concept album Schoolboys In Disgrace is being turned into a movie. Ray Davies is acting as executive producer on the project, which tells the story of a schoolboy’s ongoing battle with the educational establishment, which leads to him becoming Mr. Flash, the villain on the band’s rock operas Preservation Act 1 (released in 1973) and Preservation Act 2 (1974). This is being written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait.

Viaene 0
Because not all music news should be about people passing away: Dr Dre has revealed that he is working on an instrumental gip-hop album about the planets that make up the solar system. The rapper and producer said he had been thinking about the record for “a long time†and that he wanted to call it 'The Planets'.

Viaene 0
NASA has announced a new "Wake-up Song Contest" to allow the public to choose just what songs the crew will hear on the final flight of the space shuttle Discovery this November. While the voting is, unfortunately, limited to a list of 40 previously played songs (so sadly, no "Flight of Icarus" or "Space Oddity"), there are still some intriguing choices available for voters, including Metallica’s "Enter Sandman," 3 Doors Down’s "Kryptonite," Tom Petty’s "Free Fallin" and "Blue Sky" by Big Head Todd. The top two vote-getters will wake up the crew on their 11-day mission. A second component of the promotion allows aspiring musicians to submit original songs, with the winning entry to be played on the last planned shuttle mission aboard the Endeavor in February. Lucky 5
That's actually pretty cool. But they will be up there 11 days. Do they have to wake up to the same 2 songs every other day? They shoulda done a Top Ten. They could have added the contest winner, and boom. 11 days.
_Laurie_ 11
Leonard Skinner Passes Away Sep 21 0 Leonard Skinner, the no-nonsense, flat-topped basketball coach and gym teacher whose name is forever linked with Jacksonville’s legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd, died in his sleep early Monday morning. He was 77. "Coach Skinner had such a profound impact on our youth that ultimately led us to naming the band, which you know as Lynyrd Skynyrd, after him. Looking back, I cannot imagine it any other way. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time." ~ Gary Rossington ~
