pinkstones
As a side note, Marty Robbins is one of my favorite artists. I got that from my dad and he's one of the few country artists I like.

OLD 55
Thanks for voting Don. Haven't seen Phil yet. RonJon either. And we hope CanAm is OK ! Pink, Marty Robbins was very popular in Australia. We didn't even know he was a Country singer when he made #1 on our National Chart with 'A White Sport Coat..'. He was even more popular in my home City, Brisbane. 'A White Sport Coat' was #1 for 4 weeks here, then 'The Story Of My Life' reached #3, 'Just Married' #1, and 'She Was Only Seventeen' #2. 'El Paso' got to #7 and 'Devil Woman' to #5. :guitar:

OLD 55
You know how I'm always urging later voters to support earlier nominations..... I have all the votes totalled to date, and 4 songs look like dropping out, but it's a real dogfight to see which ones will replace them ! No clear cut favorites this week. bazooka
If I find out Bo Diddley missed out by less than 4 points, I will be sore, but I'll get over it eventually Don't worry. The preeminence of Bo Diddley is long-established doctrine here at Songfacts. Elvis is King, but Diddley is Daddy. Ellas McDaniel had a unrecognized and mostly uncredited major influence in Rock & Roll (The "Bo Diddley Beat" is the basis for hundreds of classic songs). OLD 55
I'll support it next week if it misses out. I just realised that I voted the current #1 down by 4 points, and #2 up by 5 points. It wasn't done to manipulate the Chart. More about that after voting finishes. Phil, RonJon, and CanAm, if able, are still to vote. Ian/CanAm is having a lot of trouble with his neck and can't sit at the computer for very long without severe pain. Please join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.
