Ok Sleepyhead is getting the axe for several reasons - I don't think it's that unique, my replacement song is also from 2009 and Flaming Lips are more important than Passion Pit, I think.

Velvet - The Big Pink (2009)

I wanted a neo-shoegaze representative and I thought about it much too much, this song was staring me in the face. The album doesn't match this one track, but this is one of those songs that is a classic already because of how it stands out against a backdrop of electro-indie-pop. It's lush, it's gorgeous, it's bringing back my favourite style of music!

BTW, can I say that White Winter Hymnal is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time? I hadn't heard of the Fleet Foxes until this list and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I wish I could edit my post to move it further up my list.

^ The Fleet Foxes are great - I'd say Tiger Mountain Peasant Song is my favourite song of theirs. And you can update your Top Ten any time you want, just do it in another post.
