Golden Oldies Top 40 #26

Recommended Posts

WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN OLDIES TOP 40 #26. :)

All members of Songfacts are most welcome to vote and help create next week's Top 40. Don't be shy. It may look a little complicated, but it's not really. You don't have to be an 'oldie' - just someone who appreciates this kind of music.

.................................................

Eligibility of songs:

* U.S. Charted Pop AND R&B Singles of the 1950s+ era, but not charted after 1963.

* No Album Only Tracks or Uncharted B Sides.

* U.S. Chart Links may be found for on Songfacts' Main Index page, where there are alphabetical links to many songs, either by Title or Artist. If your songs aren't there, you could use Google/Wikipedia - or PT OLD55 if in doubt.

..................................................

IT'S EASY !!! Allot your points in 3 sections:

PART A: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #25 (below) you'd like to advance:

(Plus) +5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

PART B: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #25 (below) you don't really care for, or you think could make way for other New songs.:

(Minus) -5, -4, -3, -2, -1.

PART C: 5 New Songs you'd like to see in the next Top 40:

(Plus) *5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

Please note that these may be duplicated on a number of Lists - you can go along with others to support songs you like. It's best to do that if you vote later.

VOTING IS NOW OPEN ! :)

edna, you missed the New rule that Kenne suggested and we've adopted. :o

N.B. You are only allowed to vote down a maximum of 2 songs in the Top Ten.

(Sorry Kenne and bazooka: I acidentally deleted a couple of Posts.)

I'm confused. One of the very last posts in GO #25 says:

JUST VOTE "AS USUAL" NEXT WEEK. OK ?

And I've looked but I don't see any announcement of a change in voting. If there has been one, I think it needs to be made more clear. :stars:

O.K. It wasn't there. I edited the first Post - I'll change it back again.

My apologies to Laurie as she knew nothing about it.

I thought we'd gotten over voting down half the Top Ten. I'm sure dear edna wasn't trying to manipulate it though.

If you feel I should resign because I changed the post and want someone else to run it, just let me know whom, and I'll PT the accumulated points to that person.

There isn't a new rule Lucky. Kenne suggested we do that - limit voting down songs in the Top Ten to two only - but I didn't think it necessary at the time.

No need for you to apologize. You were just after clarification.

Again, I'm happy to hand over to anyone else if you (plural) would like me to resign. I did try to influence edna's votes, didn't I ?

I voted like I always did. Was that bad or not the rule? If you want me to vote down just two songs, let me know and I'll do it. But now I see everybody voted down five songs, as usual.

I'm lost. I don't want you to resign, Darryl, I just want someone to explain me what I'm supposed to do...

I don't think that anyone is trying to influence anything .... and of course, NO ONE wants you to go anywhere Darryl! :o

No harm done, just a mistake. Lets just continue as it was in the beginning, with no change. If the songs turn over quickly, so what? Couldn't they just as easily turn over that quickly in "real life"? Or, if a change is needed, maybe we should take some time to consider it, and see what might work best?

That's alright Kid. You've done nothing outside the Rules. :)

Thanks Lucky, Kenne, Laurie and Elena for your Posts and PTs. I'll go along with Lucky and NOT bring in any new rules. I'll trust in our discretion to use the Minus votes wisely, their purpose being to -

"Vote down 5 Existing songs in Top 40 you don't really care for, or you think could make way for other New songs".

Please don't be upset by my 'brain explosion'. The Doc started me on some new medication last week, but the side effects were far worse than any benefit gained from the pills. I flushed them down the toilet.

:P

Thanks to Elena, Laurie and bazooka for voting. :headphones:
