Best guitarist of this generation

Recommended Posts

Couldn't really say who the best is, but a few of my choices would be:

Herman Li (Dragonforce)

Matt Belamy (Muse)

Daron Malakian (System of A Down)

Omar Rodrigeuz-Lopez (The Mars Volta)

Maybe not among the "best" overall but I also like Jack White, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) and Adam Nutter (The Music).

Quinn Sullivan is prettty amazing, but he's 9 years old so maybe the next generation :P

Nobody really tops everybody else, do you think the era of supernatural guitar players is fading?

I wouldn't say he's "the best," but I think that if things continue the way they're going, Jack White may be considered the last true guitar hero. He's a very good player first of all, and he's also a great showman. For most people, he's the main draw of his band, and a lot of young guitarists look up to him. Just walk into a guitar store, and anyone under 13 buying their first guitar will be playing the one song they know: Seven Nation Army (OK, maybe they know some Nirvana and Smoke On The Water too).

It's hard to say if the game Guitar Hero will lead to more guitar heroes in the future. I mean, when Tony Hawk's Pro Skater came out, nearly every kid in school (myself included) went out and bought a skateboard to try to become a pro skater. But hardly any of us skateboard anymore, at least not the way they do in Tony Hawk's.

aren't they more likely to play that on a bass guitar?

Yeah I think he's in his late 50's if not 60's. He's still a great guitarist, but I must say his taste has shifted away from my liking. I like all the latin stuff he did, but a duet with P.O.D.?

Dan Auerbach, vocalist and guitarist of the Black Keys.

With the beard he looks over 40, but I kinda found out he's only 30 years old.

So I think he's one of the best guitarists of this generation. If you hear him play you might think there's 2 guitars in stead of one.
