Viaene Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Stevie Ray Vaughan fronted Double Trouble back in the days. I will nominate him, if not yet taken.
Levis Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 I wonder if Kurt Cobain was a good frontman or a really, really sucky one.
MindCrime Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Dave Grohl is a better front man than Kurt ever was.
Levis Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 ^ yup - Dave Grohl has frontmannery programmed in his DNA.
c_s_1987 Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 I have decided on a couple of blokes with short names: Greg Lake Jack White
MindCrime Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Does Jimi Hendrix count for the Experience? I might change one of my noms, if he does.
Farin Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Does Jimi Hendrix count for the Experience? Why shouldn't he? Did I miss something?
MindCrime Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Some people consider him a solo artist, but it depends.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Chuck D. (Public Enemy) Fight the Power Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) Would I Lie to You
Lucky Posted June 22, 2009 Author Report Posted June 22, 2009 Does Jimi Hendrix count for the Experience? I might change one of my noms, if he does. It all comes down to opinion MC. If you feel he's a great frontperson, nominate him. It will be the votes that decide. That's how I see it anyway. It's not like he was onstage by himself, right?

beanochris Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Robert Smith (The Cure) Brett Anderson (Suede)

MindCrime Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Welcome to Songfacts Beanochris, even though you've been here for over 3 years.
Lucky Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 I didn't even notice! But honestly, you do need to come around more often, dontcha think??
Levis Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Robert Smith (The Cure) Brett Anderson (Suede) I like this guy
MindCrime Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) I don't think I should nominate Jimi Hendrix. Even though I believe he was one of the truly gifted musicians, I just can't find it in me to give respect to somebody who threw their life away to drugs. He's not the only person who falls under this category (or at the age of 27). Edited June 26, 2009 by Guest punctuation error

He's not the only person who falls under this category (or at the age of 27). I agree wholeheartedly with the antidrug sentiment. But the point of this thread is their musical talent. If we excluded everyone who took illegal drugs or had a substance abuse problem, many if not most of the nominees thus far would have to be excluded.
TheLizard Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Threw their life away? Jimi did more in his 27 years than most people do in 90!
