WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN OLDIES TOP 40 #19. :)

All members of Songfacts are most welcome to vote and help create next week's Top 40. Don't be shy. It may look a little complicated, but it's not really. You don't have to be an 'oldie' - just someone who appreciates this kind of music.

.................................................

Eligibility of songs:

* U.S. Charted Pop AND R&B Singles of the 1950s+ era, but not charted after 1963.

* No Album Only Tracks or Uncharted B Sides.

* U.S. Chart Links may be found for on Songfacts' Main Index page, where there are alphabetical links to many songs, either by Title or Artist. If your songs aren't there, you could use Google/Wikipedia - or PT me if in doubt.

..................................................

IT'S EASY !!! Allot your points in 3 sections:

PART A: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #18 (below) you'd like to advance:

(Plus) +5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

PART B: 5 Existing songs in Top 40 #18 (below) you don't really care for, or you think could make way for others:

(Minus) -5, -4, -3, -2, -1.

PART C: 5 New Songs you'd like to see in the next Top 40:

(Plus) *5, +4, +3, +2, +1.

Please note that these may be duplicated on a number of Lists - you can go along with others to support songs you like. It's best to do that if you vote later.

VOTING IS NOW OPEN ! :)

Trivia Question:

This female artist was given a chance to record "A Groovy Kind of Love", but her producer refused to let her record a song with the word "groovy" in it...

A couple of wild guesses from both sides of the Atlantic... :)

Co-writer Carole Bayer Sager (U.S.) was married to Burt Bacharach in the 80s, so they probably knew each other in 1965. Maybe it was offered to Dionne Warwick ?

OR

Petula Clark covered it in the U.K. after The Mindbenders did. I think they may have shared the same Producer. Maybe she was offered it before them ?

TRIVIA QUESTION

WHO AM I ???

I was a well known Musician, Born 1937, Died 2002. But I could have had a much shorter lifespan if I hadn't "lost" the draw for (or some people say I gave it up)

the last remaining seat on an ill fated plane, which crashed over 50 years ago.

Have a go without Googling.

:tumbleweed:

Waylon Jennings. I remember watching the Behind The Music special on that plane crash and apparently Buddy Holly said to him "Well I hope your bus crashes/freezes up" and he said to him "Well, I hope your old plane crashes" and how he was really affected by that for years afterward.

Waylon it sure was Pink. He either lost the toss of the coin, or gave up his seat (don't know which story's correct) to J.P.Richardson a.k.a. The Big Bopper.

ANOTHER TRIVIA QUESTION

On which #1 Pop Record did The Big Bopper and country star George Jones do 'background Indian noises'. ???
