Thanks for voting Lucky, Ron and Phil. :)

Kenne, there mightn't be any new ones get in yet ! In fact there mightn't be much change at all this Top 40. As we don't have enough people voting each week, we may have to consider reviewing the voting process. We'll see.

Thanks for voting BA. :)

We might have to have more votes each to get some changes, Laurie. ;)

Looks like it's up to me to get rid of a couple of songs, so new ones can get in. We just don't seem to like 'letting go' when older songs are dropping out.

Thanks Kenne. I really appreciate your offer. :)

Well all of our dozen regulars have voted, and I mightn't get much computer time this weekend, so I'll close voting now. Here's this week's GO Top 40.

CHART COMMENTS

EXIT

Three songs leave the Chart this week:

You Send Me - Sam Cooke, Weeks In 11, Highest Position 20

My Boyfriend's Back - Angels, WI 6, HP 15

Sugar Shack - Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs, WI 2, HP 37 (didn't last long !)

NEW

Replaced by:

Mr.Sandman - Chordettes (1954) at #36

I Walk The Line - Johnny Cash (1958) at #38

He's A Rebel - Crystals (1962) at #40

TOP TEN

There were two new entries into the Top Ten:

Please Mr.Postman - Marvelletes #7 (up from #13 last week)

Poison Ivy - Coasters #10 (up from #14 last week)

BIGGEST MOVERS OF THE WEEK

I'm Ready - Fats Domino, debuted last week and went UP from #36 to #25

Surfin' U.S.A. - Beach Boys, went DOWN from #9 to #18

GENERALLY

While we had some interesting movement in the Top Ten, #11 - 33 were a little boring, with no real variation. I think we have to 'let go' of some of the songs that have had a good Chart Life. I've started a 'disinterest' automatic vote.

Songs that receive NO votes (up or down) lose 2 points per week, and 5 points on the third week. I applied that to Be My Baby and Rock-In Robin this week. Johnny B.Goode received its first vote in five weeks, or it would have been gone.

AND WE HAVE A NEW #1 ... :drummer: Laurie likes it ! :headphones:

LOVE POTION #9 - THE CLOVERS

Here's what wikipedia says about He's a Rebel:

"He's a Rebel" is a pop song credited to the The Crystals, but actually recorded by The Blossoms which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in November 1962. Written by Gene Pitney and produced by Phil Spector, it is considered one of the definitive examples of the Spector-produced girl group sound. In 2004, the song was ranked #263 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Go to The Golden Oldies Covers Playlist to hear Gene Pitney's version of the song, She's a Rebel. The playlist starts with this song!

Yes, The Blossoms, with the great Darlene Love on lead vocals. They also did 'He's Sure The Boy I Love', but both records were released as by 'The Crystals', who were actually touring when 'He's A Rebel' was recorded/ released.

Anyone who watched the TV show SHINDIG would know The Blossoms as the resident female backing Group, who became famous in their own right. And of course, Darlene Love played Danny Glover's Wife in the LETHAL WEAPON Movies.

I like that too. :) I like all the songs in our Top 40.

It just amazes me that Elvis is disliked by so many here.

Anyone my age knows that there never was, probably never will be, anyone again who affects music as much as he did. What did John Lennon say ?

"Before there was Elvis, there was nothing".

But if you'd been a parent then you wouldn't have loved him. :)

He wore the blue suede shoes and Pat Boone the white saddle bucks.

Back in 1955 I used to try to be a cross between Elvis and James Dean.

But I've never been a FanATIC. I have friends who've been to Gracelands to commemorate different death anniversaries of his. I think that's sick.
