There must be some way out of here, said the joker to the thief.... "All Along The Watchtower" ~ Jimi Hendrix

And Harry doesn't mind if he makes the scene.... "Sultans of Swing" ~ Dire Straits

The sea is calm to-night. The tide is full, the moon lies fair.... - don't know thi sone

Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.... I only know the Fleetwood Mac version to this "Oh well"

more recognisable for me would have been the actual line:

"And Harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene"

:shades:

btw, for this song and for Wonderwall, I don't know why you choose this particular lines, at least for me they're not the most outstanding, 'recognisable' ones from these songs

maybe it's just me :P

No wonder you don't. If I had posted it on a forum for poems everyone would have recognised it. It's the beginning of Matthew Arnold's Dover Beach. I threw that one in just for fun. I know it because The Fugs recorded parts of the poem. It's on their Tenderness Junction LP! :)

"Sunshine, go away today, I don't feel much like dancin'..."

Some man's gone he's tried to run my life, don't know what he's askin' ...

This was going to be my Top Ten nomination (again) this week! :)

Coffeegod? Hey hi, and welcome to SF. I just noticed a name I didn't recognize. ;)

I wouldn't have recognized it if you had printed the full poem with the name of the poem and the author! I've never heard of Matthew Arnold or Dover Beach. It just goes to show different people from different places have different frames of reference.

War, children, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul

I want to get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

It was just my imagination, once again

Running away with me

Well, its a marvelous night for a moondance

With the stars up above in your eyes

I met her in a club down in old Soho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola

C-O-L-A cola

Hey Ho, Let's Go

Another one bites the dust

Walk this way talk this way

Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune

Something to make us all happy

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray
