cyberjudge
Now for the answer to last week's trivia question. In case you missed it, here it is again: 3 artists in this week's [week 12's] countdown reached the Billboard pop charts with covers of other songs in this week's countdown: who are they? Darryl came up with 2 out of 3 (which ain't bad ) The Coasters, who covered Love Potion #9 in 1971 and Del Shannon, who covered Sea of Love in 1982. Ironically, Del Shannon actually produced the third hit, back in 1970. It was the follow-up single to a #3 comeback hit also produced by Shannon -- the smash "Gypsy Woman" -- and it was a cover of Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops" ... by Brian Hyland! OLD 55
Thanks Phil. I like all of your Newies, especially Ivory Joe Hunter. And practically everything by The Platters; especially The Great Pretender. The Newies votes are very diverse this week. Further voters will need to support some previous nominations if we want to have more new entries.

Dappled
When i was a young lad in the middle of the 1960s there was a radio program every Sunday that was called Oldies But Goodies and they played music from 1955 to 1961 or so. The oldies were barely 10 years old Nowadays what we call Oldies is music from that same period and I guess that's the way it's going to be. Maybe it's because the music was new, happy and innocent. What do you think? Some of my pupils listen to that kind of music and they call it "old goodies". Some of them like rockabilly too. So there is still hope

OLD 55
Thanks for sharing that with us Lars. We still have an AM Station that has a couple of similar programs. "Saturday Night Jukebox", which used to be just 50s and 60s, but now there's 70s included too. And "Sunday Morning Sixties" which I don't get to hear much of, except on the way to Church. Would anyone else who's going to vote please do so soon, so I can get my typing (and I use the word very loosely) of the Top 40 underway ? It takes me ages. Thanks.
