Viaene
I was listening to an internet radio and I heard this magnificent version of the iconic song "Hey Joe". It lasted more then 10 minutes with great electric blues guitar solos. However I don't know who sang/played it, nor do I know whether it was a live version or not. It's not Jimi's version, it's definitely not the Leaves' version. Any leads? thanks!
_Laurie_
Wow that song has been covered by many artist, according to Wiki....Did it sound like Nick Cave?...I see he has covered it also, but I don't think there's blues guitar solos in that version... Farin
Roy Buchanan maybe? that's not over 10min though
_Laurie_
Deep Purple ??
Viaene
Roy Buchanan maybe? that's not over 10min though This comes very close! Same style, same feelings. Just less virtuoso. Maybe it's a different live version form him. It's not a band/guitarist I know. So Deep Purple, Nick Cave isn't the one I have in mind sorry. Farin
Julian Sas, Ripoff Raskolnivov, Tommy K Jr EDIT: Julian Sas is from the Netherlands, so if you heard him on a local radio this might get more plausible Edited May 2, 2009 by Guest
Shawna
I'm willing to bet Bluesboy will know this without even thinking about it.
_Laurie_
I'll try a couple more...they aren't over 10 minutes though... Spirit The Creation ... I'm really enjoying some of the other songs from this band...never heard of them before...
Viaene
Julian Sas, Ripoff Raskolnivov, Tommy K Jr EDIT: Julian Sas is from the Netherlands, so if you heard him on a local radio this might get more plausible Cool song, but I'm looking for a more raw, bluesy version. It was the blues radio on deezer.com. I searched the website but no playlists are found.

c_s_1987
There are so many versions of the song, it would take us years to get it. I can't think of any that haven't been mentioned.

Lucky
Eek! Good luck guys. Allmusic.com lists 736 different occurences of Hey Joe (not necessarily different artists, but different recordings). Look Here. Popular song. Viaene, a couple of questions. Can you describe the singers voice at all? Also, could you maybe contact the website via email and ask them? Viaene
I'm pretty sure it was a black voice, bit like Jimi actually. I'm listening to the radio as much as I can. Internet radios mostly have their playlist on repeat. I'll post here if I find the one out of
The Seeker
Maybe you could try listening to all the different renditions on deezer ... there aren't too many that are over 10:00 and most of them are by well-known bands, so you wouldn't have to listen to 150+ songs. Viaene
I listened to most long hey joe versions on that site. But the radios on that site also play tracks that don't show in the search forms, as I learned from experiments with other artists.
Lucky
Guitar Shorty a live clip, but it's a black voice & a recording that is mentioned as a good cover. Popa Chubby (also live, but the time is close. A white guy, but the guitar playing and voice are very bluesy). There that's 2 more of 736.
