bkrall
I'm trying to find an inspirational song that was entirely spoken by a man with a great voice with background music. Can't remember how long ago but it was sometime in the last 10 years or so. It was played on the radio all the time but just for a shor time. Any ideas, thx
LeeBB
Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen - Baz Luhrmann That's my bet. It's the last song on that playlist. LBB

Viaene
Just wondering, as I also thought of that song, are there any others entirely spoken songs? The Celebration of the Lizard comes to mind, but technically, it has parts that are sung aswell.. Edit: very technically a spoken song won't be a 'song' anymore, but a 'spoken' I guess, no? Farin
"Fire coming out of the Monkey's Head" is almost only spoken, but has a sung chorus...
aramis
"Deck Of Cards" by T. Texas Tyler is a spoken song (I think so I only know the German version) "If" by Telly Savalas is spoken with a little melody in the chorus.
LeeBB
There are some artists who specialise in spoken songs. My favourites include: King Missile (Detachable Penis, Jesus Was Way Cool, etc) William Shatner... lots of stuff over lots of years. And let's not forget: Losing My Edge - LCD Soundsystem Here they all are for your listening pleasure: http://www.playlist.com/playlist/15239457803 LBB Edited March 30, 2009 by Guest
Lucky
Aramis, your "Deck of Cards" (which goes into the playlist of songs for my Dad) has reminded me of: Old Rivers ~ Walter Brennan Both are entirely spoken word.
Shawna
seems like we had a thread about this a while back, and the consensus was that about 99% of rap songs are "spoken."
Dappled
The first spoken song I heard was Ringo by Lorne Greene, and it's a good one too. Listen here!
Barry Berry
Find Bob Dylans' 'Talkin' World War III Blues' "...lit a cigarette on a parkin' meter and walked on down the road...it was a normal day"
