Farin
Since we're not really big on writing reviews here, I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread like we already have for movies and books... So, tell us how you liked the last album you listened to Elastica ~ Elastica (1995) Even if some riffs are more or less 'borrowed', Ms Frischmann still knows how to write good music and a very good album... 9/
MindCrime
Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty (1989) I listened to this in my car while driving around town today. Classic album by this long-time star which he really came to his own, while being helped by well-known friends on this album. Definitely one of this 2 best albums. 9/
Foolonthehill
Pet Sounds- The Beach Boys. I grew up on The Beach Boys, and I still love them. In my opinion, this album is definetly their best work.
Levis
I've just started with Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun, but since I know it backwards forwards I can give it a 200/10 already.

Farin
Catalogue ~ Moloko (Best of) Moloko is usually declared a trip-hop band, but I don't think that's the case for many of their songs... they're just too fast and dancable for that label anyway, most of the songs on the album are good, some are just okay, but overall a good average... 8/10 PS, why are the groups two biggest hits on #1 and 2 of the tracklist? Viaene
^moloko is great, I loved them since I was a little kid This thread is great in general, I love sharing my opinion about albums, but album reviewing takes too much time & effort. I don't like to review every song & describe how it sounds. Good idea Martin Attack & Release - The Black Keys Although it's more polished then their previous works, The Black Keys keep producing pure bluesrock as it should be: raw, stunning and very enjoyable. 1 nerdy drummer 1 hippie guitarist 1 great album There's some perfect riff-orientated songs, but also some calm and sober songs. A good mix for anybody who loves any kinds of blues or rock. 9/10 Edited March 28, 2009 by Guest
Levis
I just listened to Ferment by Catherine Wheel. It's great There are maybe two songs that seem to be too much like each other, but in my utterly biased view it's a great album. It's got Black Metallic on it after all (also 'I Want To Touch You')
Levis
I listened to Irresistable Bliss by Soul Coughing on the tram today on the way to wherever I was going. Lyrics and delivery are more important than music, but the music is pretty awesome too. Lazybones remains my favourite. Super Bon Bon is really cool - like - too. I listened to Souvlaki (Slowdive) on my walk back and it's still on. It's lovely also. Dagger is on right now - it's more acoustic less shoegaze, and the lyrics are discernible but that's good because they're lovely - The world is full of noise, I hear it all the time, You know I am your dagger, You know I am your wound, I thought I heard you whisper, It happens all the time. Beautiful, very. I must go listen to Highspire's version now.

MindCrime
Kick by INXS (1987) Their best album with lots of charted hits, but overall I'd give it an 8/10.
Levis
New album by Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years. I enjoyed it - it has a couple of great opening songs, that I love and they're all so catchy!
TheLizard
Mastodon's "Crack the Skye" was easily the best metal album of the decade. It's what "Death Magnetic" should have been. 9/
Levis
Asobi Seksu's Citrus gets an 8/10 on first listen. Listening to Soundpool's Dichotomies and Dreamland now. If you're into nu-gaze, post rock and a few MBV references, you can listen to the tracks on last.fm: http://www.last.fm/music/Soundpool/Dichotomies%2B%2526%2BDreamland (why am I giving these guys more traffic?) Farin
two albums today: dunno why it's not generally seen as Blur's best... for me it definitely is - and one of the defining albums of the 90s on top of that 10/10 Mirrored ~ Battles this is probably definitely not something for everyone, but if you like experimental math rock and haven't heard this one yet... what are you waiting for? 9/

Levis
The Great Escape? I thought that one was supposed to be their weakest one after Leisure. To my mind the Top Three were, in order, 1. Modern Life..., 2. Parklife 3. Blur
LeeBB
Definitely Parklife for me, with Modern Life and Self-Titled close behind, Great Escape a very close fourth. All in all, a classic period where all their albums were wonderful. And as for Battles... love it!! It's very funny or very creepy depending on your mood. Not something I would ever play when my wife was in the room, but my teenage kids get into it. Like aliens covering Gary Glitter...
LeeBB
btw, I rate Damon Albarn up with McCartney, Brian Wilson and Paul Simon... the four greatest melodists in pop history. Apologies to the local fave, Neil Finn. LBB
Levis
Drowned In A Sea Of Sound - The Daysleepers probably the least imaginative album name ever (apart from Bjoerk's 'Debut') but that's okay because the songs are fantastic! The cloudy male/female overlapping voices and the 'sea of sound' itself, it's SO good, I'm glad I got it. I didn't even know any of the songs, it's not the one with The Soft Attack. But they're soooo goooood!
The Seeker
Mind Games -- John Lennon Definitely my favourite Lennon album, and it's got my favourite Lennon song too -- Out The Blue. It's one of those songs that make me happy, no matter what. The number of songs on that album that I truly love is quite low (OTB, I Know, You Are Here, maybe Bring On The Lucie), and there are a couple of songs that I usually skip half-way through (Aisumasen, One Day, Tight A$, Intuition), but the overall feel of the album is just right. Levis
Swoon - Silversun Pickups Consistently good - really good. But Carnavas was better because it had a few excellent songs in the middle of the really good ones.
Farin
The Boy Bands Have Won ~ Chumbawamba (2008) musically it's not the holy grail, but lyrically it's very cool - quite some very thought-provoking songs, from internet culture over terrorist attacks, Charles Darwin, Bertold Brecht, football, commercialisation, the english language economic refugees, to innocent prisoners. 8.5/10 full album titleThe Boy Bands Have Won, and All The Copyists and The Tribute Bands and The TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture To Be Shaped By Mimicry, Whether From Lack Of Ideas Or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try To Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother’s Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don’t Just Regurgitate Creative History, Or Hold Art And Music And Literature As Fixed, Untouchable And Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try To ‘Guard’ Any Particular Form Of Music Are, Like The Copyists And Manufactured Bands, Doing It The Worst Disservice, Because The Only Thing That You Can Do To Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It’s Over, Then It’s Done, and The Boy Bands Have Won.
