MarcM
I just sent one of my units to assist the neighboring sheriff's station in evacuations due to a brush fire near houses. The fire is about 5 miles from my house.

pinkstones
I am currently drying my hair. Although with how humid it is outside right now, I should probably go stand on my porch.
MarcM
tO ADD TO THE EXCITEMENT, AN AMTRAK BUS (THAT HAD NO PASSENGERS) CAUGHT ON FIRE ON THE 5 FREEWAY JUST NORTH OF THE FIRE AND STARTED ITS OWN BRUSH FIRE NEAR SOME MOBILE HOMES. AND YOU KNOW HOW GOD HATES MOBILE HOMES.

MarcM
GOOD NEWS! THE FIRES ARE CONTAINED AND THEY ARE SENDING MY UNIT BACK. HOPE THE WINDS DONT CHANGE. BAD ENOUGH THAT IT IS 104 OUT THERE.
Shawna
we are under severe thunderstorm warning here. I love me a good thunderstorm. The winds are ferocious.
Kevin
Keep an eye out for tornado warnings , though , if it's been so hot there and you have such a sudden change to thunderstorms - or have they been slowly building all day ?
Shawna
naw, we don't get tornadoes in Phoenix. It's monsoon season, though... winds come and go. Thunderstorm warning is all over... no thunder. *sigh*
MarcM
i used to love the thunders storms that would go through Bullhead City during monsoon season. I used to go off road out there. I just had to make sure I got to high ground, but stay in my truck. Got the flash floods below and the lighnin' up high!

Kevin
I just get a kick out of you guys using this term 'monsoon' ... is it common ? I never heard it before when I lived in N.America . If so , come to Asia and we'll show you a monsoon ! In fact , I'll see yer monsoon and raise you a typhoon !
Levis
I miss the monsoon - nothing quite like it in this part of the world. You need that unbearable level of hot humidity before the rain kicks in. Or at least you hope it kicks in - it's a bit of a gamble...
pinkstones
I love thunderstorms. We congregate on the porch and watch the lightning. It's something my dad did with my sister and I when we were younger and it just stuck.

pinkstones
I can always tell when it's about to storm. The temperature drops and the winds pick up. If I'm outside, that means I have about 5-10 minutes to get inside or go somewhere to escape the rain. I'm usually never wrong.
Kevin
Yeah , you learn to smell rain coming . I miss the quick and powerful storms at home . Here , they may linger on for days depressing the h*ll out of you .
pinkstones
Ah, the splash-and-dashers. We get those down here all the time. It's the humidity. It'll be clear blue skies and sunshine and 10 minutes later, the sky is black and it's raining so hard you can't see 3 feet in front of your face. My sister and I went to Wrightsville Beach a few weeks ago and it was a perfect June Saturday - until it decided to storm like a you-know-what and send us on our 3 1/2 hour drive home a tad bit early. pinkstones
Listening to the catty teenage girls across the street yell and scream at each other.

pinkstones
If their altercation becomes physical, film it. Please. LOL....these girls don't strike me as the "powder puff/pillow fight" types. They've stopped now, but when the brouhaha was at its zenith, I could have seen one of the girls throwing a rock at someone's head. They were arguing about boys and Miley Cyrus. Thank God I'm not a teenager anymore. Right now I'm enjoying some homemade caramel kettle corn from the Farmer's Market we went to earlier.
