OLD 55
Thanks fellow voters. I'm going to wait this week and support some newies that I like; trouble is there's too many I like. We don't want too many newies each week I suppose, or songs will have a very short Chart Life. Thanks for answering Mindcrime, Lucky. PDF for Week 1 is also here on the Thread. Why not all print a copy each week ? Of course, if a song you liked fell out last week, you can always nominate it again in 'newies'. Someone may want one of the Pat Boone songs back in. Lucky
I tried to pay attnetion this week. I supported others' new ones and only added 1 of my own. Next week may be a different story. Pat Boone?

bazooka
I think the need will arise to start with the latest Top 40 in a new thread each week. It seems to me that an open-ended thread like this is going to get very long and confusing really fast. Occasionally, perhaps some ambitious non-bazooka person might want make a report on meteoric ups and downs or noteworthy trends in the chart. OLD 55
Thanks bazooka. My friend, I hope you're right and that does need to occur. I suppose it depends on the amount of support the Top 40 receives. I've already PTd Carl about the Thread, and I'll certainly keep everyone up to date with any developments. And sure - I can do some Chart Comments each week. I did put "bullets" this week for all of the songs gaining the most positions and "new" for all the first time entries, + "weeks in Chart" and "last week's position". However, I can only show that in the PDF version of the Chart, because the spacing just goes crazy if I try to post it on the Site. The 'abridged' version just has the positions, titles and artists. We'd love you to join us. OLD 55
1960, AND CULOTTES WERE IN FASHION. I can't remember actually seeing women wearing these, except in the Movies ! I asked my Wife, and she said "yes, I wore them long before I met you". Did anyone else actually wear these ghastly things ? Why not just wear a skirt or a dress ? OLD 55
1958. THE SACK DRESS (more correctly known as THE CHEMISE I believe) was popular with the girls. The guys didn't like it much. Two 'anti Sack' songs were written about it: "No Chemise Please" (not for me please) and "You Can't Do The Bop In A Sack" (you can't tell the front from the back). Recognise the Model ?
Lucky
It looks like Joan Collins to me. I can't imagine why the guys wouldn't like that dress .... it looks like a nightie, and you can see straight through it! Why women liked it is beyond me. I know my mother never owned such a dress, and she was pretty stylish.
OLD 55
Yes it's Joan Collins alright ! I don't remember any of the girls I knew wearing seethrough dresses. I obviously mixed with the wrong crowd.
MindCrime
Guys probably didn't like the dress because it didn't show off enough legs and T&A.

OLD 55
Ken, you couldn't tell what was under THE SACK. Of course it was an exaggerated fashion. There's many attractive slimmer 'sack' dresses worn nowadays. Thanks for voting Ron. If anyone else would like to, you have around 24 hours.
