Songs with Outstanding Conviction

Hello, music lovers!

It always does my heart good to watch a lead vocalist put their heart and soul into what they are singing! This next performer certainly makes a great example, IMHO.

(Errol Brown)

His soul pours out, almost spiritually.

Please feel free to add some of your own favourites, too!

Emma ~ Hot Chocolate

We were together since we were five

She was so pretty

Emma was a star in everyone's eyes

And when she said she'd be a movie queen

Nobody laughed

Her face like an angel

She could be anything. . .

Emily, Emma Emily

I'm gonna write your name high on that silver screen

Emily

Emma

Emily

I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen

At seventeen we were wed

And worked day and night to earn our daily bread

And ev' ry day

Emma would go out searching for that play

That never ever came her way. . .

You know

Sometimes she'd come home so depressed

I'd hear her crying in the back room

Feel so distressed

And I'd remember back

When she was five

To the words that used to make

Emily come alive. . .

It was . . .

Emily, Emma Emily

I'm gonna write your name high on that silver screen

Emily

Emma

Emily

I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen

It was a cold and dark

December night

When I opened up her bedroom door

To find her lying still and cold up on the bed;

A love letter lying on the bedroom floor

It read:

Darling, I love you but I just can't keep on living on dreams no more

I tried so very hard not to leave you alone

I just can't keep on tryin' no more . . .

Emily - Oh Emily - Emily

OMGosh!!! I have been trying to find that song since I was in Middle School. I could never remember who did it and I thought it was called Emmaline.

I seriously think of that tune several times a year :o Thank you for posting it

 It was!!! It really was. I was going to post that one at first, but then I like this description of Layla too much:

"There are few moments in the repertoire of recorded rock where a singer or writer has reached so deeply into himself that the effect of hearing him is akin to witnessing a murder, or a suicide...To me, Layla is the greatest of them"

I think it's the best and most fitting description of a song I've ever seen.

You do realise we have a QnA forum for stuff like that? ;)

Well yes but I tried so long to find it and could remember so little about it, I basically gave up looking

I thought my memories of it were so off I wouldn't be able to give anyone enough info to be able to find it :(

Hi, Laurie and edna. Thanks for the visit!

The simple beauty of this next song holds great conviction in my eyes, ears and inner spirit . . .

Annie's Song ~ John Denver

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest

Like the mountains in springtime

Like a walk in the rain

Like a storm in the desert

Like a sleepy blue ocean

You fill up my senses

Come fill me again

Come let me love you

Let me give my life to you

Let me drown in your laughter

Let me die in your arms

Let me lay down beside you

Let me always be with you

Come let me love you

Come love me again

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest

Like the mountains in springtime

Like a walk in the rain

Like a storm in the desert . . .

Like a sleepy blue ocean . . .

You fill up my senses

Come fill me again . . .
