Australian bushfire death toll its worst ever

Queensland is HUGE (four times the size of California), and Brisbane is tucked down in the bottom corner, sitting on top of lots of nice hills. The floods are up in the north and in the central west, about 1000 miles away. So if he stays at home, Darryl should be okay ;-)

Anyway, it looks like the floods are a relatively minor matter (compared to the Victorian bushfires at least). There is scarcely a mention in the Australian news media. Floods are fairly common up in the north of Queensland, which is in the tropics after all, and this is the wet season.

Queensland is flooded, Victoria is burning :stars:

I'm in the middle, in southern New South Wales. I'm about 500km from the Victorian border. We're safe, but each night you can smell the smoke from burning gum trees. It is eerie and ominous.

Seems to be Victoria's turn this year. Bushfires devastated the ACT in 2003 and were even worse in Sydney some years before that.

Most definitely stay in the city Radhi!
