Farin
Aw, Triple J I didn't expect you to put the sellouts at #1 and #3... and #24 AND #70 four times Kings of Leon and not ONE song by Portishead!
Levis
It's a pity, 'cos Triple J's kinda the indie-experimental-alternative rock station as opposed to Triple M which is the commercial-mainstream-alternative rock station. Wait... but it's not Triple J's fault... this is based on votes! Pooh Have people learnt nothing?
katie_sane
Remember, it is only songs released in Australia in 2008. Kings of Leon have appeared on the Hot 100 in previous years as well. I was a teeny bit disappointed that they made number one, but not about to call them sell outs because they had a major hit song. I am very pleased that Ladyhawke and Empire of The Sun did so well. Lots of local acts in the top 100 which is really great to see

_Laurie_
I know the first song...they play it here quite a bit...not too bad of a song I guess...I kind of liked it when I first heard it.....I don't know any of the others though.... Farin
well, one or two have been nominated in the TT, so even if you don't recognise the titles you proabably heard them before
c_s_1987
I don't like this year's list. 2008 just hasn't been a good year for mainstream music. Well, most years this decade haven't, but this one is particularly bad. Since 1993 when they changed the rules so the Hottest 100 could only have songs from the one year in it, my favourite list would definitely be: Hottest 100 for 2003 Just look at that top 12! I like every song in it! Even the other end of the list is great. #75-77 and #83! Edited February 6, 2009 by Guest

TheLizard
If that stuff is "mainstream" in Australia, I'm moving to Australia, because it isn't here.
Viaene
mainstream here has turned to dance or 'schlager' because only DJ's and pre-computer people buy cd's. And me, that is So why are KOL sellouts?
c_s_1987
If that stuff is "mainstream" in Australia, I'm moving to Australia, because it isn't here. Well... not exactly mainstream. The songs that appear on the Hottest 100 are never the highest selling singles, but they are the most popular songs among Triple J listeners.
