Rayzor
yeah, okay... thanks I've always heard it as "pre-" and "post-", hence the confusion Now that I know what yer talkin' about: I AGREE!
edna
My friends kid learned Smoke On The Water on guitar first Ha!! That´s the classic intro and has been since the early seventies... everybody learns guitar with it...
Levis
Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley and Jim Morrisson are standard rock gods, whether you like them or not. They've got hordes of worshippers.
LeeBB
Ha!! That´s the classic intro and has been since the early seventies... everybody learns guitar with it... Yeah, my kids and my friends kids all play Smoke on The Water any time they get their hands on a guitar... even on my banjo and ukulele. I haven;t heard them try teen Spirit yet, but my son is working on Come As you Are ;-) LBB
Batman
Smoke On The Water is probably still on top as far as rock riffs go, but I think for most kids Teen Spirit is the first complete song they learn how to play.

My thought, back in the day, is that most beginner guitar players try and learn (or should try) Stairway to Heaven. Easy song to learn to fake but a hard song to master. I've a bit of clout only because I've been playing almost 40 years and still don't have every note exactly right. Kinda like backgammon or the letter I wished to send but never did. Kevin
Hmmm. I guess it's fair to say that you suck, then ,Muzik ... no ?!?!
MuzikTyme
Yes, Kevin, that's more than fair since you seemingly are the expert at identifying sucking. Know?
Kevin
It doesn't take an expert to say that 40 years of practice and still making mistakes on the same song constitutes sucking ... no ?!
MuzikTyme
True. But I've always thought that a human being, even with a one hundred-ten lifespan, still will not come close to mastering the guitar, much less Stairway to Heaven which isn't close. Go? My first entire song was Wish You Were Here, but then again my first guitar was an acoustic one..
LeeBB
Yes, you hear WYWH a lot around my place, and Stairway, Sunshine of Your Love, Iron Man, Sandman, One, Carry On My Wayward Son, Godzilla, and of course Blackfella Whitefella! And let's not forget those piano classics... Yesterday, Beethoven's 9th, and Thomas The Tank Engine. ;-) LBB

TheLizard
If I were to pick a "rock god" out of Pink Floyd, it'd be Syd Barrett just for being the prototypical fallen idol/mad genius.
