Wibbly
There is a debate which surfaces from time to time in the world of Todd fans: Did Rundgren's TIME HEALS or Pat Benatar's YOU BETTER RUN play after the Buggles VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR on MTV's first broadcast? I'll send a free T-shirt to anyone who can prove it definitively. W!B
Kashmir
Hi Wibbly, I'm sorry I can't prove it, but I do remember watching a recent show on MTV on the early days/how they got started. The first Video they played was by the Buggles, Video Killed the Radio Star and the next song was Pat Benatar, You Better Run. I hope this helps you out a bit. miamisammy29
I thought it was The Shoes. Man, did they suck!
Kashmir
I thought it was The Shoes. Man, did they suck! Were they called The Shoes or Nu Shoes? Did they sing a song called, "I Can't Wait?" <-in a time warp lol
miamisammy29
No, there was a band called Nu Shooz (they sucked, too), but The Shoes were just a four-piece Romantics-type of band that got lots of airplay in the early days of MTV. They had about one-tenth the talent of the Romantics, so you can see what I mean. The Shoes sang "Too Late" and a couple other songs of which I can't remember the names. Thankfully, they never made it big...and rightfully so.
Carl
I have no proof, but I have read in at least 2 publications that it is Rundgren's "Time Heals." I hope we can figure this one out.
Aunt_Acid
It was Tom Jones' "Delilah". Little known fact.
