1.Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon

it truly is IMHO one of the most beautiful non-traditional Christmas songs there is. I love that song even when it isn't Christmas.

I totally agree with you Lea......It's a beautiful song...and very sad....Knowing that we lost John in December, and every year when I hear that song, it gets to me everytime....

Same here... :P and for most of us... it will be on Top, obviously.

There´s only one song I love and it´s "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" by John Lennon... but it´s very sad because he was killed short before Christmas...

...this is my nomination from last year...

Seems like it's a lot harder to come up with an original Christmas song these days - you kind of need a gimmick. Maybe that's because there aren't any really big Christmas specials anymore where these songs get played year after year to loads of families wondering if The Grinch will get away with it.

If I'd voted for my favourite songs, Christmas -- The Who would've been at the very top... but honestly, it doesn't have a thing to do with Christmas :P It mentions presents and children's eyes, yeah, but that's not the point of the song at all. I mean, at all. :P

I love the list, all ten songs, but then I love Christmas songs regardless. You know, had it actually been submitted (rather than just as an aside), and been the original Bobby Helms' version, I would have had no problem with Jingle Bell Rock. It totally fit the guidelines. Oh well, we'll remember that for next time (if there is a next time ... :) ).
