just curious...has anyone listened to Fireworks yet?

I just did, probably while you were posting that. It was alright on the first listen, I usually have to listen to a song several times before I start liking it. It almost made my list, probably around #11 or #12 on the edit list.

This may be what Mr. Berry was referring to.

From Wikipedia:

Kokomo is an unincorporated community in Marion County, Mississippi, United States. It was organized by the Phillip Enoch family of Fernwood, Mississippi around 1912. They planned to purchase timber to finance the existing Fernwood railroad the family was purchasing. After they had secured a right-of-way, the Enochs began to construct and lay the track east of Tylertown, MS. The first tracks were not metal but were made of wood, but they were replaced with metal later. When the tracks crossed a public road, they would give the crossing a name. The names came in the following order: Davo, Barto, Carto, Knoxo, and Kokomo. Kokomo was approximately ten miles to the east of Tylertown.

That is possible ... or Berry could have been referring to parking way out on Kokomo Creek, which runs near Kokomo, Indiana. If you were driving to New York City, which Berry often did, in the early days, Kokomo would have been right on the main route driving from St Louis. In 1957, Berry had spent probably more time traipsing about the Midwest then the South (being from MO, and having no southern family). One of Kokomo Indiana's claims to fame? The largest gathering of KKK members in history, in 1924. :P (that's courtesy of wiki as well).

Not yet, but I will before I vote. Not to speak for anyone else, but I believe that most of us listen to the songs we don't know. That's part of the fun of the Ten, to learn about songs & artists new to us. Like MindCrime, the song has to be pretty exceptional for me to vote for it upon first (or even second) listen, but I'm always pleased to learn.

Alright sounds good. I don't really care if it makes it on to a list or whatever, I just think everyone should listen to that song. After all, it didn't even top my list, and I'm the one who reccomended it! Ooh La La is just too good though.

I didn't listen to every song, but I listened to every one I hadn't heard before.
