Cheers for putting me back in touch with "Shack Up", Farin. I used to dance to it at the local "alternative disco" (Scunthorpe Baths Hall), back when I was about 17. Probably haven't heard it since 1985, though I've sung it to myself a few times. :P

I wonder if an "A Certain Ratio: Best Of..." exists. Might have to look into it.

EDIT: they're actually VERY high

The Guinness Book of World Records lists this as the world's shortest song, at 1.316 seconds long. That's enough time to get in a few quick drumbeats, and supposedly four words: "You Suffer But Why." To most listeners, the lyrics sound more like "Mwwwooooo." The song also has a really quick guitar outro.
