Nevertheless, the Beatles released 13 albums, which is by any standards a pretty lengthy career. I think we're possibly trying to have a conversation about: Bands that broke up despite the fact that they were continuing to make great music. btw, I would like to add: the Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane (of course they eventually got back together, after a very long time, but I think this is in the spirit of this thread). Of course, I don't know if they count as having a "long career". Didn't they record two or three more albums after Jim Morrison died?
